With those in Washington on the see-saw of trying to come up with a solution to the country’s economic woes, I still have yet to hear that any one of them has seriously studied the mathematical dilemma of the debt. If prices were stable in this country, it would be understandable to cap the deficit, and continue arguing over the fact of keeping it at the present level but for the last couple of years “prices” have all risen. The debt didn’t create itself.
I run a household just as every American does. With that household, a “budget” has to be drawn. Not easy, especially over the last year as the price for goods has gone crazy. You can go to the store to buy anything and you come home with “less” for the same amount of money that used to fill up the bags with groceries. Being disabled, that which we used to get has also been cut, so long before these problems with the government came about, I told my wife that this country is going broke. Last year, I had my disability benefits cut to about “half” the amount I was getting. And even then, I was not getting full benefits. Food stamps were cut by approximately one-third. We used to get $135 a month for two persons, as my wife is also disabled, where “now,” we get $100.
Even when I applied for disability in 2005, I waited 2 and a half years before I got an answer from Social Security. The odd part was that even “then,” I was told by my lawyers that Social Security wished to make a deal. They would give me disability, but would only certify one year of the 2 and a half years for “back pay.” Overall, about a reduction of about $5000 “less” in back pay. Not being in any position to fight, I agreed. “Afterwards,” I am told they could not pay my back pay all at “once.” It would have to be in “two” separate payments. I got the first payment, then when it came time to receive the “second” payment, Social Security denied I was owed “anything.” The way I got the second payment was by contacting my Congressman. One month later, or “two” months after it was to be paid, I get a check in the mail.
Seems to everyone, that I complain a lot, especially my family who says I shouldn’t as at least I am getting “something.” Trouble is, that even disabled for over 16 years fighting to get disability, I worked part time as I could and “still” made more money that I am making now on disability. Hell, if I were a crook selling drugs as I used to in my youth, I made what I get now in disability in about two to three hours of my time. When I quit dealing, I was making between $800 to a thousand dollars a “day.” One run for other dealers would net me enough money to keep me with not having to work for over “6 months.”
I have heard the dilemma that there are so many unemployed in this country, yet nobody is going to like what I have to say here because it concerns the stupidity of our politicians to pass “NAFTA.” Another is allowing rich corporation who have moved out of our country to get away with low tariffs when they ship their goods into, you guess it, “the United States.” These Corporations are robbing Americans “blind.” They employ foreign labor at a cheap cost, “ship” at a low cost, “yet” sell their goods to “us” at high prices “while” they get away with not paying this country’s, TAXES. Is this ‘fair?” Of course not.
You won’t hear this from our politicians because in the process, “they” benefit by contributions by these cheaters to pay their fair share. Anyone who does not produce their goods in this country, should not be profiting from our peoples ESPECIALLY when they are not paying this country for the right to do so in “taxes.” The debt “always” has a “reason.” How it is paid, also has a reason. Behind that reason are the rich who are allowed and find ways to get away with profiting while they get politicians to look the other way. Then those same politicians look at the small fry and blame them and hurt us all with their “cuts.”
If many a politician were truly “honest, the debt dilemma would have already been resolved. It hasn’t because many of the reasons to bicker have their roots buried in GREED. To assure a “cover up” of all I have stated will stay covered up, they choose the scapegoat for these problems, which by the way happens to be YOU and I. The “cuts?” Well, let’s say that the last month has let everyone know the apathy of Congress and the Senate towards the American public and the hard working, productive individuals of this country. It is evident, that at the TOP of the list for the future, should be “tough” GOVERNMENT REFORM. And it has nothing to do with a President that is doing this or doing that. It has to do with far too many politicians on tax payer WELFARE supporting their lavish lifestyles, “while” we come last on their list of “priorities.”
Barely a little over a week till August 2nd, and it is evident that the poor, especially the elderly and disabled will not make it without an income and being this close and still no decision, we all will pay for it. As for me, I have little to lose, even if I go back into a life of crime. If ever I am caught at it, I am “dying” anyway, so I won’t be there long, and if I go to prison, the $3000 I get a year in disability will be chicken feed to all that will be spent to keep me locked up. But then, I am not the only one who will have to consider a life of crime to survive as we disabled and the elderly are not much good for anything “but…………….” Can you just imagine an over the hill “ex” hippie having to go back to selling drugs again? Guess I may have to get the old and rusty, “POWER TO THE PEOPLE,” slogan out of the closet. Then again, being honest and on disability, hasn’t put a new car in my garage like all the ones I used to drive around in, either.
