Live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas it s UFC 130. This event took a knockout punch when Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar pulled out of the main event against Gray Maynard with a back injury. Anthony Pettis was offered to replace Edgar but Maynard also had to pull out with a knee injury, so the fight was scrapped entirely. Put in the main event slot was Quinton “Rampage” Jackson taking on Matt “The Hammer” Hamill. With Rampage coming off a very close split decision win over Lyoto Machida and a loss to Rashad Evans, I see a very dangerous Rampage entering the octagon this weekend. Hamill has struggled with every top ranked fighter he’s ever faced and I don’t perceive that changing. I’m predicting will see Rampage Jackson knockout Matt Hamill in the second round and earn himself the Knock out of the Night Honors.
In the co-main event we see a Heavyweight gatekeeper bout between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson. This is a very tough fight to predict with both fighters being Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts; this fight will be won standing. After watching Nelson take a beating from the number one contender Junior Dos Santos for fifteen minutes I don’t believe Mir has the power to put Nelson away. My prediction is that Roy Nelson drops Frank Mir in the third round and wins via TKO.
The Battle of giants is featuring 6, 11″ Stefan Struve taking on undefeated 6, 7″ Travis Brown. With Struve being used to fighting guys his own size, knocking out his last two opponents which where both over 6, 6″ and the fact he has more then double the amount of fights Brown has under his belt. I’m predicting Stefan Struve brakes Travis Brown unbeaten record and wins via unanimous decision .
In the welterweight division Thiago Alves has fight most of the top fighters in the weight class including Champion Georges St. Pierre. Rick Story is where Alves was three years ago getting his first crack a top ten fighter. Unfortunately for him his Story will not be written the same way. Alves is a pit bull and a hungry one. I’m predicting Alves wins his second decision in a row and this bout will earn Fight of the Night Honors.
The night starts in the Middleweight division the “All-American” Brian Stann welcomes Jorge Santiago back to the octagon for first time since 2006 when he was knocked out by Alan Belcher. Stann is coming off a big knockout win over Chris Leben; if he can keep the fight off the ground he’ll be leaving one step closer to a shot at Champion Anderson Silva. I’m predicting Brian Stann has a quick night as he will knockout Jorge Santiago within the first two minutes of the very first round.
