Hasbro has a line of construction sets that resemble Legos that will be in the spotlight thanks to the release of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” It’s a smart move. Give the Lego lovers of the world what they want without having to give Lego any of the money. The name these “construction sets” go by are KRE-Os.
“Transformers” KRE-O construction sets you can get include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sentinel Prime, Starscream, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Prowl, Jazz, Mirage, and Megatron. Each “Transformers” character comes in a two-in-one set. They can be built as either a vehicle or a robot.
KREON figures come with each “Transformers” construction set. These resemble the little figures that come with a Lego building set. There are two to four figures with each.
There are different sizes for “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets. They vary from having 75 pieces all the way up to 386. Hasbro recommends the age range for the sets according to how many pieces they have. The ages range anywhere from 6 to 14.
The “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets do not convert. Hasbro has made this very clear on the marketing material. You would think that customers would just know this, but a toy manufacturer can never be too sure.
Reviews from consumers for the “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets have been positive across the board. One thing consumers are happy about is the fact that the KRE-O pieces work with Legos. Laura S. stated, “It’s like Legos, and it will fit with Legos to build onto it. I think that’s rather cool.”
It has been said that the “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets are good quality. “This is a great toy, well made, and it allows children to use their imagination and construct it in a number of different ways,” remarked Robert R.
The main complaints are the “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets are not recommended for the right age ranges. “This set is far too complex for an eight year old. In my experience younger kids don’t have the patience, especially with video games and texting these days,” commented Vid F.
Reviewers have stated that the sets take anywhere from three to four hours to put together. Boston D. stated, “I got this toy for my almost seven year-old sons, but my husband (well over the age of fourteen) did the majority of the work. It took him over four hours to build the robot and I would assume a child working by him- or herself would take even longer.”
Prices for the “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets vary in price as well. Depending on size, they range anywhere from $7.99 to $39.99. Hasbro has done their best to make sure they are providing an affordable set for any pocketbook.
“Transformers” KRE-O construction sets would appear to be the perfect gift for any children who love spending hours building with Legos. However, buyers should definitely take into consideration the age the set is being bought for. The “Transformers” KRE-O construction sets have pieces that vary in size. There is a choking hazard for toddlers.
