Top Ten Summer Movies According to Will

by mud mosh

Like my snow day list I have movies that directly involve the season of the list and some movies that I just think are good for a summer’s day in.

10. Summer School

The movie focuses on gym teacher Freddy Shoop (Mark Harmon) who, instead of going to Hawaii, gets stuck teaching a remedial English class. With the Professor down the hall watching his every move, he and his class of lovable misfits must make it thorough the shenanigans and survive the summer term. This made my list because It’s s fun movie to watch and is good for almost all ages. Plus it’s much better to watch people in summer school rather than having to be there.

9.Heavyweights

After being forced by his parents to attend Camp Hope, a camp for overweight children, Gerry Garner finds that the camp isn’t as bad as he thought. That is until the owners sell it to Tony Perkins, a fitness guru, with big plans to change the camp. Now with all the things that made camp fun being taken away and replaced with vigorous exercise routines, Gerry and his fellow campers band together to try and win back the camp they love. Honestly a great cast of young talent and just a great all around story. It’s a fun summer camp movie that’s great for the whole family.

8.Good Burger

With most of the cast from All That! this movie is one of those classic Nickelodeon movies. Dexter Reed (Keenan Thompson) is excited to start his summer vacation and has big plans for himself. While driving his mothers car from school without her knowledge he runs into Ed( Kel Mitchell), who causes him to get into a fender bender with his teacher. Now with no license or car insurance, Dexter must get a summer job to repair the damages to both vehicles so that Mr. Wheat won’t inform his mother ,or the authorities ,of what he’s done. After being booted from Mondo Burger, a new burger place in town, Dexter joins the staff of Good Burger. Now he must help them stay open while competing against the biggest burger chain around.

7.Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) convinces his parents that he’s sick and needs to stay home. After everyone leaves for work and school he calls his best friend Cameron(Alan Ruck) and gets his girlfriend Sloane(Mia Sara) to join him on an adventure in downtown Chicago. With the schools dean hot on his tail and Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari out of the garage, the adventure never stops.

6.Dude Where’s My Car?

Jesse(Asthon Kutcher) and Chester(Sean William Scott) awake to the realization that they just had an insane night. Problem is they can’t remember anything about it, including where Jesse’s car is parked. As they embark on the quest to figure out the whereabouts of the car they run into the strangest people and have to try to fix the mess they are in with their girlfriends. Dude. Sweet.

5.Grind

Upon graduating, Eric Rivers (Mike Vogel) decides that a change is needed for him and his friends and comes up with a great idea. Instead of spending the summer working, Eric gets his friends Dustin (Adam Brody), Matt (Vince Vieluf) and Sweet Lou(Joey Kern) to embark on a cross country trip following pro Jimmy Wilson’s (Jason London) skateboard tour in hopes of getting sponsored. The movie is also full of great cameos from people like Bam Margera, Tom Green, Dave Foley and more. From what I can tell this movie isn’t exactly popular with most people. I for one love the movie and think that the story is really good. I’m a sucker for adventure movies that involve friends on great journey’s.

4.Supertroopers

This group of Vermont State Troopers do not take the job that seriously. They constantly pull pranks and joke around with each other and the unsuspecting citizens they pull over. Though when the news comes in that they are being shut down due to the states budget they have to shape up or ship out. Now with the rival local police trying to get in on their busts, they must out do the local police to try to save their station from being shut down. Not exactly a family movie and it’s not really an adventure, but it’s a hysterical movie. I honestly think it’s the best movie they have made so far and I’m hoping they don’t disappoint with the sequel.

3.Without a Paddle

After their longtime friend Billy passes away childhood pals Dan(Seth Green), Jerry(Matthew Lillard) and Tom(Dax Shepard) are once again united in their home town. After finding a map that Billy made for them as a kid they decide to embark on the adventure he planned to find a missing treasure. So after some convincing they decide to embark on the journey together in honor of their friend and wind up on an amazing adventure together. Like I said I’m a sucker for stories about friends on adventures and this one is great.

2.Road Trip

Josh(Breckin Meyer) has a girlfriend who goes to a college a thousand miles away from his. After a drunken one night stand with Beth(Amy Smart) he convinces himself it’s ok because his girlfriend would never find out. That is until he appoints his roommate Barry(Tom Green) to mail out a tape he made since he didn’t have time. After figuring out that Barry mailed the wrong tape he teams up with three other friends on a cross country journey to make sure that his girlfriend doesn’t see the tape of him having relations with Beth.

1. The Goonies

A group of friends discover an old treasure map in Mikey’s (Sean Austin) attic. After learning more about the legend and hearing of the lost treasure they decided to embark on an adventure to find it. As simple as it gets when it comes to adventures. It’s like Indian Jones with a group of youngsters. This is a classic and it is a great movie, if you haven’t seen this yet than you should see it as soon as possible.
