Spring is here and it is time to dust off the furniture in the backyard. If you have chairs and tables in the yard now is a good time to get them out. When you have taken them out, you will probably notice all of the chipped paint, and the old dusty cushions. So how can you creatively give your yard furniture a fresh new look for spring? Below you will find several tips that may prove to be beneficial.
Fresh paint
Your furniture can easily get a fresh new look just by giving it a fresh coat of paint. Take a look at the type of furniture that you have for the yard. The type of furniture will determine which type of paint you use. Metal framed furniture can easily be spray painted. This will give the furniture a fresh brand new look. Do a little online research to see if you can determine the best type of paint to use for your furniture.
Wash and wipe the cushions
If your cushions have been placed in storage they are probably dusty and dingy looking. To give them a fresh look without using a lot of chemicals you can try a simple solution. Mix one teaspoon of lemon juice, with two cups of water, and a teaspoon of vinegar. Spray a few squirts onto the furniture cushions and give them a quick wipe down The lemon scent will not only make the cushions look clean but it will give them a nice fresh scent as well. Of course if you don’t mind using a chemical solution, you can mix two teaspoons of bleach with half a bucket of water. I like to mix this in a bucket and then just use a sponge to wipe down the seats. Allow the seats to air dry in the shade, and your furniture will have the amazing look it needs for the summer months.
Spray and wash the patio
If you have a patio you will want to give this a huge wash as well. The snow, and ice from the winter months probably gave your patio a horrible look. How you clean the patio will really depend on the type of material you have on the patio. For example a cement covered patio can easily be sprayed with a water hose and a simple push broom to get rid of the dirt. Brick, or other kids of patio materials will need a different time of cleaning technique.
Umbrellas and overhangs
If you have umbrellas that goes along with your patio furniture you may have to give it a good scrubbing. First start by hosing down your umbrella. The same can be done for any overhang that you have in the yard. You may need a cloth or sponge to wipe the umbrella down by hand. It will not take a long time to do, but it will certainly take a it of elbow grease.
