It begins about a week before the 4th of July and includes events such as concerts, Revolutionary war reenactments and activities especially for kids.

The Smithsonian stop will be closed most of the day for security reasons and will reopen after the show is over.
Since this is a popular event, show up early in the day to claim a spot with your chairs or picnic blanket. Since you won’t want to leave once you’ve claimed your place, plan to either bring a picnic lunch or buy food from one of the many vendors in the mall area.
