The final matchup was John Cena vs The Miz (w Alex Riley) for the WWE Championship. The WWE hyped up the main event by showing footage of the two superstars’ road to their success in the WWE.Miz had a great intro to the ring and had pyros along with it. John Cena’s entrance featured a choir singing before he finally came out to the ring with his regular music. The match was pretty great; I’ll have to admit that. I’m not a fan of The Miz, but she sure as h*ll displayed some aggressiveness on Cena. He wasn’t landing maneuvers, but he was landing fierce blows with his left hand, and punishing stomps to John Cena.
As much I hate to say this, Miz technically had more fans in favor of him winning the match. Every time it seemed like Cena was heading in a positive direction, the crowd booed Cena with passion. It’s not that the crowd actually liked Miz, they just didn’t want to see John Cena walk out with the WWE Championship. Despite the fact that Miz want landing good blows, he failed to get a three count on many tries. Miz even landed the patented “Skull Crushing Finale” and Cena kicked out. The same can be said for John Cena in this match with failed pinfalls. He also had Miz locked in the “STFU” and Miz eventually got to the ropes.
Cena eventually got back in the match and Riley did his best to aid his mentor. He got in the ring and clocked Cena with a silver briefcase (ref was distracted), and Miz only got a two count. Then Miz attempted to use the briefcase to hit Cena, but knocked Riley out (who was standing on the apron). Miz was distracted and Cena landed a thunderous “AA” that I’ve never seen before. Miz showed heart by kicking out and showed his maturity by rolling out the ring.
Outside the ring, Cena got in the 3 point stance and clotheslined The Miz over the barricade. Cena got back in the ring so he could break the ten count. The Miz, who was now in the crowd after clothesline tried to leave the arena because he will retain if the match ends in a countout. Cena jumped over the barricade and speared The Miz, but both guys crashed to the floor. The referee counted them both out and Miz retained by countout.
Both guys were still lying on the floor in the crowd and suddenly here comes The Rock. The Rock is pacing around in the ring and the Raw Gm buzzer goes off. The Rock tells JR and Lawler that he will read the email. The Rock mocks Michael Cole’s email procedure and then he throws the laptop on the ground. He decides on his own, overruling the Unknown Raw Gm decision. He decides that Miz will defend his title against Cena in a No-DQ match. Cena and Miz get back in the ring and Rocky gave Cena the “Rock Bottom”, and Miz pinned Cena for the 3 count to retain his WWE title twice in one night. The referee never stopped The Rock from doing the “Rock Bottom” (Strange).
Eventually he did the “Peoples Elbow” to Miz and WrestleMania 27 ended with The Rock celebrating with the fans. The Rock was definitely electrifying, but I find it quite strange how he was able to restart the match between The Miz and John Cena. I know he is the guest host, but it just seems out of place. He is my favorite wrestler and all, but now he has overruled the Raw Gm twice since his return to the WWE. The first time was when he returned on Valentines Day 2011. Remember Cole tried to read an email and Rocky told the GM it doesn’t matter what you think. Well he uttered the same words tonight at WrestleMania 27.
