A woman is involved in a murder crime because of her chatting with a virtual friend.
It was around eight pm when the doorbell rang insistently and several bangs shake the main door of the house.
She was exhausted after a long day of work in the office, almost an hour drive in traffic hell to get home just in time to clean the house and cook dinner. Her husband had another double shift week and was not coming home until three am. She had not taken off her office cloth, but got rid of her high hills and stockings as soon as she walked in the door.
—- Who’s bugging me this late at night! I am too tired to deal with people!
She walked towards the main door to ask who was knocking when a cold feeling covered her entire body. Through the living room window she could see police car lights on her front yard. Horrible thoughts came to her mind immediate. Something had happened to her husband or someone she knew was in trouble.
She opened the door nub but kept the latch on. Lately the news channels have been talking about robbers attacking their victims on the highways dressed as officers with full uniforms, badges and police cars.
—-Yes?
The officer got closer to the half open door and showed her his badge. A female voice a few steps back spoke up.
—- Are you Marina Mora?
—-Yes, how can I help you?
—- We are investigating the location of Adara Enea, from Chicago. She disappeared three months ago. Her family is looking for her.
Marina felt glad to hear this and assured herself they came to the wrong house.
She opened the door to let the policeman and the lady with him (who was not wearing a uniform) in the house.
—- I am sorry officers, but I have never heard that name before. Besides we are in Connecticut, the last time I was in Chicago I was sixteen. What are you doing here? Perhaps you came to the wrong place?
Another man came in the house also without a uniform. Marina felt very unease at his site.
—– Mrs. Mora, Adara Enea, mother of Sthephan Gregorios is Christopher Gregorios’s wife. You do know him don’t you?
When she heard Christopher’s name a storm of emotions shook her body. Her hands started to sweat and her shocking expression was an obvious tool for the policeman who asked her to sit down and introduced her to his partners.
—– Mrs. Mora, this is detective O’Gara from missing people in the Chicago´s police department and this is her partner, detective Rogers, specialist on internet crimes.
Adara Enea disappeared after her son’s death and Mr. Gregorios is nowhere to be found. Her father thinks Christopher has something to do with her missing. They don’t have anything against you Mrs. Mora but they came a long way to speak with you. Can you tell us anything about Mr. Gregorios?
Marina was confused, scared and numbed. She was trying to remember when was the last time she spoke with Christopher or wrote to him?
—- Mrs. Mora, detective Rogers said, let me make this easier for you. We know you met Christopher Gregorios in San Francisco, two years ago in an Incentive vacation trip given by Lunanova technologies to some of its employees nationwide. You spent one week together along with other sixty employees and managers.
Marina kept quiet for a moment and then mumbled:
—– I never saw him again after that trip.
—– Well, perhaps! Said detective Rogers. But you kept in touch with him ever since. We have records of all your conversations through chat messenger and a phone call done from his residence to this house six months ago. You sent him an e-holiday card recently and some pictures of you and your house.
Your colleagues at Lunanova technologies assure that the two of you were inseparable the entire week in San Francisco and after the trip you started receiving faxes, flowers and presents from a secret admirer.
Marina stood looking straight to the floor and said in a shaking voice.
—- I really have not talk/chat to him in a while officer. Ever since the phone call, I have avoided writing to him as much as possible.
—– Well then, tell as more about him from the time you were constantly chatting? And what was that phone call about that made you want to stop chatting with him?
—- It seems that you read everything we said, officer, so what else could I tell you? Said Marina with a bit of sarcasm.
—— I knew they were having marital problems as everybody else in the world and their son was ill in the hospital but I always though he loved her. He always spoke very kind of her. Of how good she was to him. How they met. The problems with her family and a lot more.
Maybe they left together somewhere to heal their loss, what should I know?
—– Mrs. Marina; said detective O’Gara, we are not accusing you of anything. We need your help. You knew he left her about six months ago when they sold their house and purchased an apartment in the city, he told you that in an email. We don’t believe they were together after that.
Marina looked tired.
—– Detective, I remembered they were putting the house on the market and considering the idea of moving to an apartment, but I did not know they actually did those things or were separating.
You know chatting is just like talking in a bar about “whatever”. Sometimes is a real issue, sometimes you are just playing and making up conversations.
This is all too sudden for me. I need to think a little and would like to speak with you more privately, not in my house, you know? Can I call you tomorrow?
Detective Rogers was annoyed by this request and slammed the door on his way out of the house. Detective O’Gara gave her a card with a phone number handwritten on it.
—– That’s the number of the station here in Bridgeport, the other ones are my direct line in Chicago and my cell. We need to move fast on this. If you can help us with anything, it needs to be soon.
Marina tried to lie down but was unable to fall sleep. Her mind was drowning on confusing images and mixed feelings. She admitted to her self that even when she felt attracted to Christopher and enjoyed their conversations, he scared her a little with his comments and always felt guilty for chatting with him.
They’ve met the first night of the so long expected incentive trip organized by Lunanova technologies. During the first night reception, Christopher caught site of her and kept staring at her across the ballroom all through the night. She didn’t pay much attention to this because he was not the only man hunting for a woman that day and not the only one trying to get her attention.
Marina new that these large events had a long history of love affairs. Almost like a witch hunting, this was love hunting for many employees who felt free to flirt, taking into consideration they were far away from their homes and partners. She knew well enough to watch out for her self, and be ready to run up to her room as soon as every day activity was over. She had a very good reputation within the company and was not looking to add more problems to her already complicated marriage.
That first night, when she was ready to go and hide in her hotel room, she stood up to say goodbye to her colleagues who were already a bit drunk and loud. Christopher spotter her all across the ballroom and walked towards her. She noticed him and hurried to the door but he reached her before she was out the ballroom.
—- I don’t want to scare you dear, but when I saw you at the beginning of the reception I was astonished to realize how much you look like my wife. So much that I came close to you several times to assure my self you were not her.
This comment puzzled her and was completely unexpected. If he was trying to pick her up, that was the most unusual way to do it. She looked at him and nodded with a funny smile.
—– My name is Christopher Gregorios, from the Chicago office. Nice to meet you!
She wanted to keep on walking but felt rude to ignore him.
—– My name is Marina Mora, from the New Haven office, nice to meet you too.
—– Marina? That is a Spanish name isn’t it? It has something to do with the ocean right? and Mora, let me think, that is the name of one of the Spanish conquistadors. Am I correct?
—– Very well! You know a little bit of history! Said Marina still walking towards the elevators.
—– Oh I love history! It is my passion!
—– Yeah, I read a lot on history as well. Your name sound Greek, am I right? She pressed the elevator button and made a sleepy gesture to indicate him she was going to bed.
—– I can’t believe how much you look like my wife. You hair, your eyes, even your glasses! And you are obviously a well-educated and smart lady as she is.
By this time Marina was thinking what an annoying way of approaching a woman. Either he was being very honest or very lame using his wife to pick up someone else. The elevator was taking too long and she grew impatient.
—– I have a picture of her, would you like to see it?
Curiosity killed the cat, she thought, but she was truly intrigued. So she nodded.
Christopher pulled a brown leather wallet out of his blue suit and Marina could see the golden initial “CG” elegantly carved on the corner of the wallet that matched the initials on his jacket’s cuffs. He was wearing a white shirt with a colorful tie and perfectly cleaned shoes.
—– Here, this is my beautiful wife. Don’t you think she is as gorgeous as you?
Marina was so surprise to find out he was telling the true and indeed the women on the picture looked very much like her, that the elevator came and left without her noticing.
—– Oh my goodness! It is so weird to see someone that looks like you don’t you think?
At that moment Christopher dropped another picture on the floor, they both bend down to pick it up. On the second picture his wife was standing next to a hospital bed. In it was a boy struggling to look at the camera.
—– That’s my son. He has been in a comma for the last two years. He was born with a defect in his nervous system. As the years go by, he only gets worse. My wife is by his side in that hospital every day ever since.
Marina felt so sad to the sound of his voice and the though that if anything ever happen to someone so close to her she wouldn’t be able to keep on living. She just stood there looking at him, unsure about what to say next.
—– Anyway! I don’t know why I just told you that. Forgive me for shocking you.
Don’t you think it was about time the company gave us a trip like this! We deserve it after so many years of hard work.
Do you want to go to the restaurant with the rest of the people and have a drink?
—– Ok, I guess it is not harm to stay up a little late once in a while.
They joined the rest of the group that were playing drinking games and acting already childish because of the alcohol. They sat on a table close to the group but far enough to be able to have what for Marina was the most wonderful, refreshing and interesting conversation.
He was a well-read and well-spoken man that made her feel comfortable and relax. When the group dispersed two hours later, she told him she needed to go to bed or would not be able to stand in the next day meeting. He offered to walk her to her room and she accepted, holding on to his arm while walking to the elevators.
—– You are an enchanting lady Marina. Perhaps in another life we would have been perfect for each other.
—– Yes perhaps. She laughed.
He walked her to the door of her room through funny looks and whispering comments of their colleagues. At the door, he kissed her forehead and said: Have a good night my dear. Then walked away.
Lying on her bed now two years later, remembering all of this, she couldn’t imagine Christopher hurting his wife or anybody else. Although, she knew very little of him and the things he did months after the trip were indeed odd, she couldn’t accept the idea of him being a bad person.
Early the next morning, she called her office to say she was not feeling well and will not go in to work. Instead, she drove directly to the police station.
Detective O’Gara was surprised to see her there so early in the morning and detective Rogers made a disapproving gesture to her.
She greeted them with a quick nod and went straight to detective O’Gara’s desk.
—– Why he dislikes me so much? He just met me. I have nothing to do with this woman’s disappearance, and I am just trying to help.
Detective O’Gara sat back and let out a laugh. —- Don’t worry about him, Mrs. Mora. Remember he read all your chatting and notes with Christopher Gregorios. He probably thinks you are unfaithful and he has a wife to worry about.
—– Well, nothing ever happened between us “physically” at least if that gives him peace of mind.
—– Do you have something that can help us figure out what’s going on here?
Marina explained the way they met and how the entire week they did nothing but talking about politics, life, books, marital problems, kids and more.
Christopher told her how he met his wife in high school and how her family always disapproved their relationship because he was poor and he wasn’t fully Greek nationally or religiously. Apparently his paternal grandparents migrated from France to the States in the 1920’s and his mother was the result of a love affair between a Greek woman and an Italian fisherman that ran away from their land because neither of their families accepted the religion of the other one.
To worsen the bad relationship with the father in law, Christopher got his youngest daughter pregnant without finishing high school and was forced to marry. Unfortunately she lost the baby. Christopher wanted to prove to her family he was a worth man, started working in a car dealership to make some money and support his young wife. Years later she became pregnant again and had the boy on the picture.
—- Detective Rogers approached her with a sarcastic tone: did he tell you his entire life in one week? Is there anything helpful for the case in all of this mambo jambo?
—– I am not sure detectives. I just couldn’t sleep thinking about all of this. I don’t think he could hurt her. He loved her.
—– Oh really? So why was him convincing you to meet him half way through the two cities to spend a night together? Said detective Rogers in an angry tone.
Relax Rogers, said O’Gara, are you taking this personally. Let her talk.
Marina kept talking. Well, we had a wonderful time together in San Francisco and I don’t deny I was very attracted to him and I knew comments would come out of seeing us together. But nothing happened between us then. We said goodbye with friendship promises of long distance communications.
After a week of settling down in my office, I got a nice phone call from him saying it was nice to meet me and hope we can keep in touch. I was very happy to hear his voice and responded him later that day with an email. That is how we initiated our email conversations. Then he asked me to email his personal email so we did not use the company’s network and I did. We emailed back and forward using personal accounts and a few weeks later started using the chat messenger more and more often with short greetings and sweet comments. Nothing really going beyond a friendly relationship through chat rooms during the week.
Then one day, on a Saturday I received a note saying: Are you there my love, my friend?
I am sure detective Rogers here has records of all this conversations, so I should just go to the point.
I thought it was strange he called me my love, but responded asking him if he was ok. He started talking about his son in the hospital and the problems with his wife, and how much he was hurting from all of this. He wanted to run away to a peaceful place. We started talking in a different level and I got more and more involved with his problems.
Detective Rogers started walking around the room seemingly aggravated by her story.
Do you know he also kept in touch with three other women that were at the same meeting with you in San Francisco?
Marina could not believe this. Deep inside she had developed a special affection for Christopher and could not remember a moment when he was talking with any other woman. If they were not in meetings, he was always with her.
—– I am sorry detective. I guess I am too na¯ve. She said.
—- Naive? He said in a high tone. I will say stupid!
—– So why are you talking to me and not the other women? Asked Marina irritated.
—– Because you were the only one that listened to him and continued the conversations. The rest dropped the chatting almost immediately.
O’Gara said, please continue with your story Marina.
—– A few months later I received flowers in my office with a note saying “You are the window that clears out my future” I phoned him but only got his voice mail. I did not want to leave a message because I was not sure he sent the flowers, but I truly could not think of anybody else.
Then I received several books that I read and commented with him. This was one of the things we had in common. Reading a book, turning it apart and discussing every chapter.
On the card that came with the book he told me those were his wife’s favorite books. Even when I thought this strange, I enjoyed reading them and treasured them.
I always tried to ask him about her and their son and maintain my self as a friend.
One night after chatting for a long time about the world, life and nature, enjoying a glass of wine on each end, he wrote:
My dear friend, would you like to spend sometime with me? He asked me to meet him somewhere in between the two cities. He told me he wanted to be with me in person and give me what I deserved. He told me many things — that I am sure you read.
I can’t deny I was intrigued by this and interested. I also wanted to run away from my monotonous life and his words truly touched my skin. I told him I would think about it.
We continued chatting more sexually now and discussed different possibilities to meet. I do accept that I played the part and continue this conversation with him for several weeks but never really intended to meet him. I am not strong enough or brave enough to pull something like that. It just terrified me. I let him imagine that we would meet because for me, we were virtually playing a game.
When the supposedly planned day came to meet, I told him I couldn’t do it and he got very upset. He told me I had him waiting all this time and now jumped out of it without notice. Then he apologized for being rude but stopped writing to me.
I sent a couple notes but he didn’t responded and I thought it was better this way.
A couple of weeks later I received the most bizarre fax in my office. It looked as if he had put his face on a copy machine and photocopied the side of his face with his eyes closed and his right hand on the glass next to his head. I freaked out when I saw it with the note that said “To Marina from your friend”
A few weeks later I received an email saying he was in love with the woman who helped them with their son and was running away with her. I did not respond and became overly worried with all of this. Then I received another note saying he also liked a colleague from the office and was winning her to go to bed with him as well.
I decided to phone him to the office and ask him what was wrong, why was him acting so weird and to stop sending me these emails. I was shocked to find out he was no longer with the company and the person who answered new nothing about him. I looked at the card he had giving me in San Francisco and called his cell phone. A woman’s voice picked up the phone and I assumed it was the lady he told me he was running away with. So I hung up.
Time went by and I did not hear from him, then one Saturday I was chatting with my sister and his name lighted up. A message came up saying: Marina, are you there?
I thought for a moment before responding because I was very afraid. I wrote back a note asking; how are you Christopher, how is the weather there?
It is cold and gray, he said, but the tulips should start popping up soon. That always light up my life.
That is great, I hope everything is better with your life now.
Then I read in capitalized letters.
YOU WHORE. STAY AWAY FROM MY HUSBAND. I KNOW YOU HAVE SOMETHING WITH HIM. I AM GOING TO TELL EVERYONE IN YOUR COMPANY ABOUT THIS. WHAT ABOUT YOUR HUSBAND DOESN’T HE KNOW YOU ARE HAVING AN AFFAIR? BITCH! YOU WERE RUNNING AWAY WITH HIM. WHY DON’T YOU LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE? WE HAVE A SICK SON YOU BITCH. CAN’T YOU RESPECT THAT?
I was absolutely terrified. I was unsure whom I was chatting with. I though he was pulling a very ugly joke so I wrote back:
Excuse me but if this is Christopher this is not funny and if this is not him, I don’t have anything with him. You have the wrong story. I was just a friend.
I KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO MEET HIM. I KNOW YOU CHATED WITH HIM EVERYDAY. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE SPECIAL TO HIM. LET ME TELL YOU HE HAS MANY OTHER WOMEN. HE HAD A LOVER IN HIS OFFICE AND HE HAS THE FACE TO SLEEP WITH THE WOMAN WHO TOOK CARE OF OUR SON. YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE HELL I LIVE IN. LEAVE US ALONE.
At that moment I realized I was really talking to his wife.
—– I am sorry I hurt you by talking to him. He always talked about you, even sent me pictures of you and your son. He said you and I look alike. Nothing ever happened between us. I swear.
She waited a while and then wrote:
I AM SORRY, I AM SORRY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE LIFE I LIVE. HOW MUCH I SUFFER. I SAW YOUR NAME AND THOUGHT YOU WERE ONE OF THEM. I AM SORRY.
I was honestly worried about this woman whom I´ve never met before but I´ve never being so scared in my entire life. I told her I was signing out. I shut everything down and walked to my room still with my hands trembling. I did not even make it to my room when the phone rang. I was petrified when I saw Chicago´s area code on the caller ID.
I picked up the phone without saying hello. A female voice on the other side started talking and crying.
I am so sorry, I am sorry Marina. I shouldn’t have written to you. You are not bad, I made a mistake. I am sorry.
I´ve never been in such situation; I was so shocked about this. The only thing I could say was: How did you get my phone number? How do you know who I am? My name?
I saw an email you sent to Christopher long ago. It had all your information.
I don’t have anything with your husband. If the fact that I chat with him affects you, I will never speak with him again. I promise but don’t ever call me again.
I am sorry, I am a woman in despair. I don’t know what to do anymore. He has lovers, he is going to leave me, and I can’t live without him.
I felt sorry for her and told her to please talk to him about this. Face him about his relations. I said to her that this is between the two of them. And not to call me ever again.
Marina turned to detective Rogers. —– That is the phone call you have recorded Sr. The wife called me.
The next day, I wrote Christopher an email telling him not to ever speak or contact me again. He responded that I took her side because I was a feminist, pro woman and he knew now, I will always take her side without even knowing her. He said he would respect my wishes and never contact me again. He wrote a PS saying, we are selling the house and moving to an apartment in the city.
That was the last I heard of him, until you came to my house last night.
Detective Rogers pulled one of the papers out his folder and threw it on the table.
What about the e-holiday card you sent him and the pictures of your house? That was very recent.
—– I sent that to everyone in my address book in a bcc email. You can check with the rest of my friends and family. I am pretty sure he did not respond to that.
Detective O’Gara got up and said: Very well Marina, I have to swallow all you said and see if I can get anything out of it.
—– Her father said that since they sold the house he hasn’t seen them but he knew she kept coming to the hospital to see her son. He did not know they were not living together and apparently nobody really new that for sure. But since the son died three months ago, nobody has seen her again.
Marina started walking out the door and looked at detective Rogers who was obviously disappointed with the whole encounter with her.
—– Why don’t you use my chat login name and password and try to see if he responds to you? Since the last chat incident I hardly ever use it anymore.
Detective Rogers thought this was a good idea and asked her to write her information down on a piece of paper. She did and looked at him straight in the eye.
—- Detective, talk to him about history books, politics, women issues and nature. If he starts talking sexy, play difficult, don’t use obscene words, don’t ever say I love you and try to pick up a fight or two. If you are too easy he will know is not me.
—– Thank you Marina, I will.
—–
A week later the phone rang at almost eleven a clock, Marina jumped out of her bed half sleep and answered the phone.
—– Hello?
—— Marina, I apologize for calling so late. This is detective Rogers from Chicago. Christopher responded to me today. He said he never got a chance to ask you about the last book he sent. He wants to know if you liked the end and the setting. Can you tell me what that was?
—— Tell him I learned a lot about the culture, real life during the war and still cry in silence for a belated love when I see a kimono.
—– Oh, aren’t you talking about that Chinese girl who is prostitute? They are making a movie about it.
—– Detective, she was Japanese and not a prostitute. Just tell him I loved the book. Ok?
—– He also said the tulips came up. Do you know what he meant by this?
—– Well he used to brag about the tulips he planted in the yard of his house. I guess he is talking about that. But that is weird because you said they sold the house?
—– Thank you Marina, I will let you go back to sleep and will let you know if he writes back.
Two days later the phone rang again. Detective Rogers sounded alarmed;
—– Marina, we found a body in the backyard of the Gregorios residence in the suburbs. I though I should let you know.
—– Oh my soul! but, detective, they sold that house six months ago.
—– Yes, yes but the new owners were digging the tulips to build a swimming pool and called the police when they hit a discomposed body. Detective O’Gara is on her way to the house. We’ll call you when we have more details about it.
But Marina, He paused. I called the Bridgeport station and asked them to send someone to your home. Please sit still.
—– But why here with me? What for?
—– Marina, I don’t want to alarm you. I have been chatting with Christopher back and forward in the past two days. The last message he wrote said: “you looked very attractive in your gym cloths today” Needless to ask you if you went to the gym today. The officers will be there shortly.
Marina was just hanging up the phone when a car parked on her drive way. She was glad thinking the officer sent by detective Rogers was already there, but was puzzled they came so quickly and the car had no police lights. It was dark, so she couldn’t see the person getting out of the car and approaching the door.
The door bell rang. As always, she kept the latch on and opened the door just enough to ask who was it. A whispering low voice said.
—- Marina, It’s me!
She thought it sounded familiar but could not picture the voice. When she was going to open the door the phone rang again.
She yelled at the door: One moment please! And answered the phone.
—- Yes?
—- Marina, this is detective O’Gara, are you accompanied by the Bridgeport Police?
Not yet? But someone is here. Why?
—- Don’t open the door and don’t hang up the phone.
We found a body, Marina, but it is a male body. We believe it is Christopher.
—- But, they sold the house a long time ago. And detective Rogers has been chatting with him. How can it be?
—- Marina, I am sorry to say this but this body has been here for more than six months. We are not sure without the forensic reports but if it is Christopher and he has been death for this long, you have been chatting with someone else.
Marina dropped the phone on the floor without hanging up and stared at the main door. Whoever was outside was pushing the door trying to loosen up the latch and ringing the bell insistently.
It occurred to her that after the trip to San Francisco she only spoke to Christopher over the phone once the first week she arrived but never again heard his voice.
She picked up the phone from the floor and spoke in an alarming voice:
—- Detective O’Gara, I never heard his voice again, even after I retuned from the trip to San Francisco. I only spoke to him once. Are you telling me I have been chatting with someone else all along?
Marina now knew the person outside her house was the person she had been speaking with all this time and felt terrified every time the bell rang. She cried at the door:
—- The police are coming right now ‘” whom ever you are. Do you hear me? They are coming.
She heard the quick steps running out and saw the car storming out of her drive way. Detective O’Gara was still on the phone.
—- Marina, Marina! Are you ok?
—- Yes detective. The car just left.
—- Please remain calm Marina, I will stay on the phone with you until the police arrives.
Marina sat on the floor holding the phone without saying a word until the police cars showed up.
—– We will make it to Connecticut as soon as we can. Don’t get out of the house or pick up the phone.
Is your husband home tonight?
—– No, he is on a trip. He won’t be back until Saturday.
—– Ok. Stay with the officers at all times.
The next day in the afternoon, Detective O’Gara and detective Rogers arrived at her house looking exhausted from a long night.
She offered them coffee and let them speak. O’Gara started:
—– It was indeed him Marina, the forensic officers believes Christopher has been there for nine months. We still don’t know where Adara is.
We checked his work and they said he had sent a very sad email asking for time off to be with his sick son but never returned to work.
No one in the office remembers him trying to pick up a colleague. No one ever saw him with anyone else.
We also spoke to the other women he sent emails to after the San Francisco trip and they said he hardly spoke to them during the event. They exchanged cards as everybody else and when they received his emails saying it was nice meeting them and spending time with them, they though it inappropriate and asked him not to write them anymore.
The woman who watched their sick son said he was a good man and felt sorry for them. She said his wife was consumed by their son’s sickness to the point of filling the entire hospital room with pictures of saints and angels and constantly lighting up candles that were taken away from her because they were prohibit by the hospital.
Marina, what is your husband’s opinion to all of this? Does he know what’s going on? Have you told him about the chatting?
—- Well, he was here when Christopher’s wife called, so I told him the basics about it.
—– What about before, right after your trip? Does he like you going away so long?
—– We had a fight about the trip before I went and when I came back, but we fight all the time and I guess he is used to business traveling. He travels often. If he is not traveling he is working. That is why he is never around and when he is around we fight. Nice ha?
Detective Rogers grab her hand.
—- Marina, we now believe that you spoke with Christopher’s wife all along. Sorry, but since the beginning. Perhaps Christopher phoned you that first week thanking you for a wonderful time, but never again emailed you or chatted with you. That is probably why in the conversations he seemed so understanding of women’s issues and problems. That is why he sent you his wife’s favorite books.
I am afraid I reborn her craziness about you when I recently started chatting with her as you. We know she is here and has been watching you.
The detectives left the house but two local officers remained to protect her.
Marina could not believe she developed some kind of virtual attraction to a disguised woman and almost accepted to meet her at a secret place between the two states.
She knew she had to talk to her husband in detail and be completely honest to him. They both needed to be careful and watch their every move.
She phoned him at work, asked him to be careful and told him they needed to have a long conversation as soon as he got back in town. He didn´t understand her request but didn´t have time to ask for details as he was busy in meetings.
When he finally arrived from his trip, she told him everything and was ready for another big discussion as they were used to communicate.
To her surprise he was quiet and thoughtful. He told her a woman has been calling his cell phone and leaving him irrational messages, calling him sweetheart, baby and saying she couldn´t wait to see him.
Marina asked her husband to meet with detective Rogers and share anything unusual to help them locate Adara.
Detective Rogers told them that on his last chat with Adara – as Marina, she thank her for alarming her about the police approaching the house and wished her a fun re-encounter with her husband.
She said on her chat she was leaving town but will be in touch somehow.
