The five star KiriMaya Boutique Resort is surrounded by a Lilly pond lake filled with exceptionally tall lemon grass, wild flowers and plants. It is only reachable by wooden boardwalks raised above the water. KiriMaya is an African-style nature retreat. The African “look” is not only atmosphere, the rainforest jungle Khao Yai National Park is only 30 minutes away where you can take a safari to see tigers, elephants, and other wild animals.
Everything about staying at KiriMaya is exciting. The resort blends with the natural surroundings! Using natural woods, bamboo, straw and other rustic materials gave an unspoiled touch to the Plantation guest rooms. I enjoyed the convenience of opening the curtains between the bathroom and bedroom’s glass window to watch television while soaking in the tub. A special audio system was installed in the bathroom to regulate the television program’s sound. There is also a glassed-in shower with a huge shower head.
The tent’s canvas coverings appear to be tents from the outside, but inside is a beautiful first- class suite complete with a air conditioning, a Jacuzzi pool in the living room, bed room, kitchen and bath rooms. Guests receive a complimentary 20 minute massage and personal valet. There are also spa suites at the Maya Spa and regular villa suites around the pool.
In addition to all of these amenities, you are pampered by 250 employees, which amounts to around 4 employees for each guest. With 60 rooms, a world- class 18- hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Maya Spa, and two restaurants, you have everything for a perfect vacation. The Acala Restaurant’s tower resembles an animal watching balcony. Listening to the bird’s songs and seeing them flying above you brings guests back to nature in a serene setting. If you want an adventure take the ½ day, full day, or night Safari Wild Life Tour. Porters will carry the food and cook a traditional Thai lunch for you in the jungle.
I was thrilled that we were so close to the jungle yet staying in one of the famous Thailand luxury resorts.
Their motto: “Distinctively Natural”. Just two hours from Bangkok, the KiriMaya Resort is located in Khao Yai, Thailand. www.kirimaya.com
