Each summer the New Hampshire Seacoast is filled with special events and festivals. Most are very affordable for the family, including many that are free. Links to the event home pages are highlighted for each event, and there is plenty to choose from!
WOKQ Chowder Festival- Saturday, June 2th, Portsmouth, NH- If you like chowder this is the place to be! Vote for your favorite chowder. This annual event takes place at Prescott Park. $10 Adults, $5 Youth (12 and under), Members are Free. Starts at 11:30am and goes until the chowder is gone.
Market Square Day- Saturday, June 9th, Portsmouth, NH- Held every year the second Saturday in June. Features artisans, products, food vendors and 3 stages of entertainment. Annual road race begins at 9am. A free shuttle runs from the Fox Run Mall throughout the day. Parking meters are free that day. Paid parking is available at Hanover St. Garage. Free Admission. Festival runs from 9am-4pm.
Somersworth International Children’s Festival- Saturday, June 16th, Somersworth, NH- This annual event takes place on Main St. and Noble Pines Park. Celebrate diversity with entertainment, food and numerous free kids activities. Free Admission. Festival hours are 9am-4pm.
Prescott Park Arts Festival Presents “Willy Wonka”- Opening Night Friday June 29th, Portsmouth, NH- The classic movie hit the stage as this year’s chosen musical to run throughout the summer. Runs Thursday through Sundays from June 29th-Aug. 26st. Small Suggested Donation. Click link for dates and times.
Strawberry Festival- Saturday, June 30th, South Berwick, ME- This event has been held for 35+ years. The festival offers strawberry shortcakes (of course!) and so much more! Over 100 artisans display their wares. There is a food court, and free entertainment on two stages. Behind the school boasts food vendors and activities for children. Takes place on Central School grounds, Main Street. Free parking with free shuttle service at Marshwood Great Works School, Community Center, Agamenticus Ball Field, Powder House Ski Hill. Free admission. Hours are 9am- 4pm.
Prescott Park Saturday Festivals- Begin Saturday, July 8th- Aug. 11th, Portsmouth, NH- Includes Showcase Music Festival, Americana Festival, Kids Festivals, Folk Fest, Country Festival, Shakespeare in Prescott Park. Small Suggested Donation. For dates and times, click link.
Tommy Gallant Jazz Festival- Sunday, July8th, Portsmouth, NH- Prescott Park. Always a day full of amazing jazz. Small Suggested Donation. Starts at Noon, last act begins at 4:30pm.
American Independence Festival- Saturday, July 12th, Exeter, NH- Takes place at American Independence Museum, also Swasey Parkway, and Water St. Hear the Declaration of Independence be read. Includes historic role-players, artisans’ village, food, music, kid’s activities. Ends with fireworks. $7 Admission ages 10+. Hours are 10am-5pm.
Stratham Fair- Thurs. July 19st- Sunday, July 22th, Stratham, NH- Not as big as a county fair, but it has the essentials- animals, rides, music, crafts, etc. Admission prices vary, so use link for more info.
Eliot Antique Tractor and Engine Show- Friday July 27th- Sunday 29st, Eliot, ME- Lots of fun for the whole family. Tractors and trucks to explore, crafts, engine displays and much more! Admission is $4, 12 and under are free. Check website for details about times and scheduled events.
Boston-Portsmouth Air Show- Saturday, June 30- Sunday July 1stth, Portsmouth, NH- Pease International Airport. A huge hit each year! General Admission tickets range from $15-$25. Gates Open at 8am. Events schedule comes out later in summer.
Hampton Beach Children’s Festival- Monday, Aug. 13th- Friday, Aug. 17th- Hampton Beach, NH- Events throughout the week. Free Fun! Full Schedule of events will be posted on their website soon.
