In many ways we all procrastinate. I know this might sound pretty hockey, but it is true. How many times when we’re in the process of doing something and get delayed very easily, sometime it’s because we want the thing to be perfect and waiting to get it done when we can (perfectionism), or because we have too many things to get done, or people said that we can’t be or do it and we apply it to our system and fail. Procrastination itself is a part of human life, everything we do always trying to be troubling by our procrastination, for instance we might say I’ll do it later, or I’ll read it tomorrow and never do so. According to Wiki, procrastination is the intentional and habitual postponement of an important task that should be done now, but we leave it for later on.
According to a handout from www.unc.edu, procrastination has both internal and external consequences.
Internally, an example could be, “you feel anxious much of the time, even when you are doing something that you enjoy.” However externally, an example could be, “you get a zero on the paper because you never turned it in. Or you had to meet the congressman yesterday because he will be there for a week you rescheduled it for the next two days and before the next two days he left the town.” I know how you feel after being procrastinated and failed, discouraging, frustration, or you might even hate your life, and said that you’re not lucky, or you weren’t born to be something in your life.
Not all problems, but most of our lives’ issues have a solution; as it has done before procrastination can be stopped by eliminating the old habits and coming up or develop some new ones. It doesn’t mean that beyond of that you won’t ever procrastinate again, but you might come from work or before bed time or before work time, instead of watching a regular TV show, you do one or two simple things that will help you get over your home works a little earlier or with less stress.
To get over procrastination, you have to definitely know the reasons why we do it. Sometimes it’s because we are scared of being failed, “I don’t think it’s a good idea.” Perfectionism when we trying to do an essay and keep doing research about it and never write a draft because we are looking to be perfectly done it. Too busy, too many things to get done even though we have enough time to get all of them done but when we think about all, they get delayed. Now as we know some reasons then we can act up.
In addition to get over that, we will need to challenge ourselves, when something has to be done; we have to take it responsibly in charge. For example, “I have to write the draft today. I need some resources to get that done.” Just get a new attitude, develop your new habit, make it work, make schedule, set a time limit, and live it the right way
Finally, we learn that procrastination attacked all human, means it is natural. And we met some steps to stop being too close to it.
