Synopsis of the Children’s DVD Sweet Dreams, Starring Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, and Barney
Eight episodes, including one bonus feature, make up this video. First, Thomas & Friends features “James In the Dark,” which sees the engine refuse to be fitted with a light so he can pick up an opera singer and others for a night concert with the result being that he picks up the wrong people. “Day and Night” is offered up by Barney & Friends, where the gang has a sleepover in the caboose during the day, and then imagines it’s nighttime to where they get to ponder the sights and sounds of the dark. In the Bob the Builder episode, Scratch won’t take a nap, so becomes a hindrance to the crew trying to get lights put up at a soccer field in “Night Time Scratch.”
This children’s DVD Sweet Dreams continues with an Angelina Ballerina episode, “Angelina’s Sleepover,” where the mouse convinces mom to let her friends stay overnight to complete some masks, but they mess around too much and don’t get much sleep causing them to be of little use the next day during rehearsals. The bratty lamb spin off from Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, sees Timmy try to get out of taking a nap, causing him to struggle through the rest of pre-school in “Sweet Dreams Timmy.” The Fireman Sam episode, “Twitching the Night Away,” sees the crew have to put out a small forest fire, which interrupts fireman Elvis’ plan to appear on a talent show. The next to last animated short comes from Kipper, where the dog has trouble getting to sleep at night and tries many things to overcome insomnia in “Sleepless Night.”
The bonus feature includes a Roary The Racing Car short called “Tunnel Vision,” which features racer Maxie stall in a tunnel during racing, revealing his fear of the dark. The animation and sound effects in this short are very riveting at times, as if one’s at the racetrack.
More about the Children’s DVD Sweet Dreams, Starring Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, and Barney
This is a great potluck of animated characters plus Barney that will inspire children to not only get enough rest, but teach them about not being so self-conscious, appreciating the sights and sounds around them, and more. I would advise putting this video on before bedtime if the kids are restless. It may very well get them sleepy, as it did me before it finished playing since I’d been up a long time and realized I needed to get some sleep.
The combined running time for the DVD is about 87 minutes and can be heard in English. The Suggested Retail Price is $14.98.
