When Ethan Bortnick walked across the Las Vegas Hilton’s large stage, he made history joining Elvis, Liberace, Tony Bennett, Julio Iglesias and a long list of other celebrities who performed there. Ethan is only 10 years old and already known as the youngest entertainer, musician and composer to headline a national concert tour.
Ethan’s small body was almost hidden by the grand piano but his performance was flawless. I enjoyed Ethan’s musical mix of classical, jazz, R&R, pop along with his own compositions. Ethan’s fingers seemed to fly across the piano’s keyboard and the next moment after each number he got up to speak to his audience.
There was a question and answer segment which gave the audience a chance to interact with Ethan.
Anyone who heard Ethan’s music and did not know that the entertainer was only 10 years old would have thought he was an exceptionally talented adult pianist.
We scheduled time for an interview before his show.
Sandy: “When did you begin to play the piano?”
Ethan: “I begged for piano lessons when I was three years old but my parents said, ‘No, you are still in diapers.'”
Determined to learn, Ethan listened to a Baby Einstein CD while playing what he heard on a toy keyboard. Then his parents gave him piano lessons.
Sandy: “How long did it take you to learn how to play the piano?”
Ethan: “I really didn’t learn how to play. I just played what I heard. Later I composed music at the age of 5. All of the songs are in my head. I think of a story or something that inspires me, whatever comes to mind, and then I have to think of the words and the tune.”
His exciting career performing for the public began at the young age of 6.
Sandy: “Do you miss having a normal childhood running around with other kids.”
Ethan: “No, I play soccer, video games, read and I love what I do.”
Ethan seemed happy on the stage and when he was speaking about his career.
Ethan: “I have so much fun, I love it!
The talented young man is always involved in music. Ethan’s TBS television Special is now available on CD and he is now busy writing music for a new CD.
Known as the youngest Philanthropist, Ethan has donated part of the proceeds of this show to the Children’s Miracle Network. He is the world’s youngest philanthropist. Through his appearances at benefits, Ethan has helped raise more than 30 million dollars along with other celebrities,
Through concert and charity events he has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Natalie Cole, Beyonce and Reba McEntire and recently joined some of music’s biggest names including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber, Tony Bennett and many others , as the youngest of the all-star lineup that recorded “We are the World 25 for Haiti.”
Ethan’s talents are not only drawing rae reviews from audiences all over the country and globe, but also the attention of the media. He has been featured on Good Morning America twice, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition, Martha Steward, Oprah twice, Jay Leno show four times, and more. Ethan has been named one of Oprah’s All Time Smartest, Most Talented Kids.” He even created and hosted his own award-winning nationally televised concert special on PBS. www.ethanbortnick.com www.lvhilton.com
