I’m always on the lookout for new ways to earn extra money on the internet, be it writing product reviews, taking surveys, or what not. I had never signed up with a “get paid to read emails” website before mainly because most of them seemed fishy and I don’t want to get burned. Truth is, there really are NOT a lot of such websites that are on the up and up. I decided to take a chance with SendEarnings.com, who pay two cents for each paid email they send you, but after receiving and reading their paid emails for the last eight months… I got burned!
SendEarnings sounds decent enough at first glance… they pay you two cents for each email that they send you and you actually read, and they give you a five dollar bonus just for signing up. After I signed up with SendEarnings, they sent me an average of 3-5 paid emails a day. To get credit for an email, first you must open up the paid email, then click on a “confirm reading this email” link which usually takes you to the website of whoever paid for the email. It doesn’t take too much time to do this, so for a few minutes each day you earn on average 8-10 cents. There are other ways to “earn” money with SendEarnings: by signing up for “cash offers” (which usually require you to spend money with a third party website) or by taking surveys.
The red flag with SendEarnings is that there is a $30 minimum you must earn before you can request a check. At two cents per paid email, 3-5 emails per day, I figured it would take me about a year to earn that $30. Now, I’ve been burned before by such websites that had a high threshold for requesting payment. Usually my experience is that such companies go out of business before I ever reach the minimum, and I never get paid. SendEarnings hasn’t gone out of business, but what do you think happened when I racked up a balance of $26 after reading their paid emails for over eight months? You guessed it… they QUIT SENDING ME EMAILS to read!
Instead of getting 3-5 paid emails a day from SendEarnings, I now receive just ONE paid email per week. At this rate it will take me an addtional FOUR YEARS to earn the four dollars I need to request a payment! I’ve found some online discussion forums about SendEarnings in which other users have had the same experience… after racking up over twenty-five dollars or so the paid emails quit coming, ensuring that Sendearnings will never have to pay you. Before I sat down and wrote this article I went to the SendEarnings website and found this in their FAQ section, under “Why am I not receiving as many paid emails?” They say this:
“We have initiated weekly emails to our members that have not actively participated in our club. If you are receiving a paid email titled “Weekly Paid Email”, then it is because we do not know what you want to see. Show us what you like by completing a SendEarnings cash offer, survey, task, online shopping, or playing games and we’ll resume emailing daily paid emails. Until then, you will receive one weekly paid email with all your offers of the week, which include great offers or saving opportunities from our National Advertisers.”
Now, the funny thing is that I HAVE completed eight of their cash offers and surveys, which have earned me an additional few dollars on top of the paid emails. The catch with their “cash offers” is that most of them require you to actually SPEND MONEY by signing up with some third party website in order to receive a little kickback from SendEarnings. And the “cash offers” that are FREE are a waste of time — for instance, I just submitted a “cash offer” from Publishers Clearing House that pays one dollar for entering their sweepstakes. The catch is that after filling out the sweepstakes entry and hitting the “submit” button, it opens up a new page full of other “cash offers.” Then you hit the “continue” button, and another page of offers opens up, followed by another, and another, and another… you get the picture. I had to go through over 30 of these additional “cash offer” pages and I finally gave up.
I also just signed up for another SendEarnings “cash offer” in which you get paid fifty cents for signing up for free samples from a third party website. Again, after filling out the initial form and hitting “submit” I was subjected to page after page after page of more “offers.” I gave up on that one too, after about twenty pages of offers with no end in sight. This is typical of the SendEarnings “cash offers”… a complete waste of time.
As far as the Sendearnings surveys, they pay fifty cents per survey, and the surveys take 20 minutes on average to complete. I’m sorry, but fifty cents is not worth it. I’m also signed up with OpinionPlace.com and they pay me $3.00 for each 20-minute survey, and they actually pay you after each survey is completed with no minimums!
All in all, SendEarnings.com is a scam and a waste of time. They really should change their name to WeKeepYourEarnings. I have read 753 of their paid emails and completed 8 surveys/cash offers and I will never get paid — I give up! If you are looking for ways to earn some extra money on the internet, do not bother with these guys.
