Over the past ten years I have made a decision to purchase cosmetics that contain less chemical ingredients. Natural skin care products are harder to find, but when a mainstream cosmetic company like Covergirl comes out with a line called Natureluxe, it was hard to resist.
I want to tell you about Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm. It comes in a very slender, roll up tube containing .067 ounces. You can see the color of the balm through the clear cap, I have color number 235 Grenache. It is darker than the picture at drugstore.com, but I am actually pleased by that fact.
Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm comes in 16 different shades, so there should be a shade for just about every woman. Grenache is almost the same color as my lips, but it adds a nice soft shine to them that makes this an appropriate balm for daytime or evening wear.
Here in Alaska we have sunshine almost all day long during our spring and summer months, so it is important that my lips are protected with sunscreen. The Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm is formulated with SPF 15!
The tip of the balm is nicely angled and allows me to apply the product easily. It glides on like a lipstick, yet has the moisturizing properties of a lip balm. I absolutely love the smell of this balm, and it makes my lips feel smooth and soft. I use lip balm all the time, but I don’t have to apply the Covergirl product nearly as often as other brands, Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm remains on my lips for several hours, and when it wears off they don’t feel dry.
I am not one for a lip gloss with a sticky texture and that adds an over abundance of shine to the lips, so this product is perfect for me. There is absolutely no sticky feeling, and the color and shine that this balm gives leaves my lips looking healthy and natural.
Being a stickler for the integrity of ingredients, I had to check out what the Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm contains, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
Octinoxate is the active ingredient, and this adds the SPF to the balm. Among the inactive ingredients are healing and beneficial castor seed oil, lanolin oil, candelilla cera wax, cocoa seed butter, mango seed butter, shea butter, Fragrance, coconut oil, vitamin E, aloe vera extract, and vitamin C. It does have some ingredients, such as propylene glycol, which I don’t consider to be natural, but it is also important that cosmetics contain some preservatives so they don’t grow bacteria and turn rancid.
I feel Covergirl has done a nice job of blending natural ingredients into a product that doubles as a lipstick and lip balm. It retails for only $6.49, much cheaper than high end cosmetics that don’t work as well. I gladly recommend this product.
