Randy Orton was drafted to Friday Night Smackdown in the 2011 WWE Draft. It’s been nearly five years since Orton has been on the Smackdown roster. Many people were ecstatic because they assumed great things are to come with Orton being on the roster. Maybe great things will come, but no one expected Randy Orton win defeat Christian for the World Title and become the champion so fast. Christian’s two day reign as champion has caused a backlash for the WWE, and plenty of hostility in the WWE Universe. It’s safe to say that Randy Orton’s babyface character has ran it’s course in the WWE.
Randy Orton’s current babyface character is disliked by many people in the WWE Universe. Many people argue that he no longer has the charisma that he used to have when he was much younger in the WWE. The nickname that’s starting to circulate around the WWE Universe is “Randy Bore-ton.” It’s because his promos have become boring and very predictable. It’s also been said that Randy Orton talks like a robot during his promos.
Randy Orton has a tendency to — ..talk — to — talk — …like — — ..this — —
Sadly, I agree with many of these things that have been said about Orton. Here is an example of a present day promo done on a regular basis by Orton:
As you can see, he has the crowd on his side, but him speaking in the ring all by himself is boring. The creative has made his character too boring and his gimmick needs to be updated big time.
The most recent issue I have with Randy Orton’s character is how he took out the New Nexus single handedly. Cm Punk, Micheal M., Mason Ryan, David Otunga, and Husky Harris never had a chance. Throughout that entire rivalry with the New Nexus, there were only a couple of moments when Orton looked weak. Don’t forget that he punted the skulls of almost every New Nexus member.
The worst outcome of the rivalry was CM Punk vs. Randy Orton at two PPVS. At WrestleMania 27, Randy Orton defeated CM Punk in that match, and the same result occurred at the 2011 Extreme Rules PPV. Orton won those matches fair and square, just like John Cena would. When is the last time Randy Orton has been defeated by another WWE Superstar fair and square? He has become too invincible just like John Cena.
Everyone misses the “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton. This Randy Orton was not invincible, but was definitely an impressive WWE superstar. When he made his entrance to the ring, his displayed his arrogance. He used to display this evil smile that would immediately draw heat from the crowd. This Randy Orton didn’t talk like a robot and he made the WWE Universe admire the heels better than the babyfaces in the WWE. “The Legend Killer” had so much charisma unlike the present day Randy Orton.
Here is an old Randy Orton segment when he was the “Legend Killer.”
That’s the Randy Orton that everyone misses. It’s just amazes by how much he has changed in the last 5 years. Now he is unstoppable WWE Superstar who hasn’t lost fair and square in a matchup in a long time, who cuts boring promos. The bottom line is this, the longer he continues to be a babyface destroying all of his opposition with ease it hurt the WWE. Hopefully the WWE will have a great storyline in place after he defeated Christian for the World Title, which Christian held for two days. If the WWE wants suggestions from the WWE universe, than many of us want the “Legend Killer” back.
