Randy Orton (Current Reigning World Champion) took part in a interview with a Rock Station in Phoenix, Arizona this week. During the interview, Orton’s “Legend Killer” persona came alive and so did the arrogance. One thing is for sure, this was not a PG rating interview. Randy also spoke on some past tribulations, and he bashes several current WWE Superstars.
Previous Drug Addiction:
Randy spoke on his previous addiction to drugs. Five years ago (2006), Orton had drug problem that nearly cost him his life. In 2006, there was an incident involving Orton overdosing on drugs. Randy’s wife saved his life because she called an ambulance. He also brought up his past issues with drugs because he was promoting a new WWE DVD called “Randy Orton: The Evolution of a Predator.” Orton along with his family will discuss his previous drug addiction. It’s always great to hear testimonies about people who have become drug free and made progress in their lives.
Orton: “I was ashamed of it for a long time, but now talking about it and getting it off my chest–when my in-laws and mom watches it, they’re going to cry. My wife talks about when I stopped breathing and the ambulance came,”
Chris Jericho: Randy Orton gave some credit to Chris Jericho for being bold and not being afraid of Vince McMahon.
“Jericho is type of the guy to go in Vince’s office and tell him this is what he’s doing and tough,” Orton said. “A lot of newer, younger guys are intimidated by Vince. They’re scared to knock on his door. Jericho–I miss him being around–would go tell McMahon what’s going on.”
Kelly Kelly: Randy Orton threw Kelly Kelly under the bus completely. Throughout the entire interview, the radio hosts and Orton bashed Kelly Kelly, and said disrespectful things about her. For example, Orton spoke on how he and Kelly Kelly did a short romantic storyline together several years ago, and the rude comments about Kelly Kelly rained in immediately.
One of the host said that he would be a “method actor and sleep with her.” Orton responded and said that “I could name a few method actors in WWE.” “Like ten guys.” Throughout the entire show, the hosts pressed Orton for answers and tried to guest which male WWE Superstars Kelly Kelly has slept with. It was totally disrespectful because Orton has no business discussing her personal life and it shows how arrogant he is. Orton has took to his Twitter immediately after this radio interview to apologize to Kelly Kelly for his harsh words.
The Rock: Randy Orton also revealed a backstage feud with The Rock. Orton said that Rock called WWE management and attempted to get Orton in trouble. The reason why The Rock did this is because Orton bashed the Rock earlier this year in an ESPN interview. During the interview with ESPN, Orton told ESPN that he didn’t believe anything that The Rock said during his return promo to the WWE.
Randy also said that Rock told WWE management that Orton bashed Triple H during the interview with ESPN. Randy feels that Rock threw HHH’s name in the mix to fuel the fire. However, Orton never said HHH’s name during his interview with ESPN. Orton told the host that he was disappointed with The Rock because he never came face to face and spoke to him about the comments that he made on ESPN. Orton also said that Vince was angry with him for slamming The Rock in that ESPN interview.
The Rock is my favorite wrestler of all-time, but I know that he has a huge ego like most top superstars (past and present). The Rock did not handle that situation the right way, but arbitration is very popular in these times. Orton was right; Rock should have handled the problem face to face.
John Cena: Randy Orton praised John Cena’s charisma, and said that Orton has better mic skills than The Rock. Randy also poked fun at Cena’s wrestling skills.
Orton: “When I watch him, I feel he’s a little stiff, hard to move, robotic. It certainly hasn’t hurt him. I’m much better than John Cena, but on the mic, he’s light-years ahead of all of us, including The Rock.”
Orton is right about Cena’s terrible wrestling skills, but Orton said that he is better on the mic than The Rock. Are you crazy? It sounds like Orton is in denial and does not want to give Rock his credit. The Rock is the greatest person ever to cut a promo in wrestling history, period. CM Punk is not too far behind The Rock and Punk is better on the mic than Cena. If Cena is so good on the mic than why haven’t the ratings lived up to the Attitude Era during the Rock’s time in the WWE? Randy Orton has no room to call anyone robotic, and it’s funny because evreyone compares Orton’s characteristics to a robot.
Randy also complained about the difficulty to work with Mark Henry, and displayed his arrogance the entire interview. My honest opinion is that Randy Orton tried out do CM Punk’s epic promo and now it has backfired on him. Think about it, Punk’s promo was like a shoot interview and it was successful. Suddenly Orton decides to shoot on various people in the WWE right after the success of CM Punk’s promo. You may disagree, but that’s what I think. Randy Orton knew not to mention CM Punk’s name. (LOL)
Randy Orton’s official website did have the entire interview available for listen, but it has been deleted due to controversy that Orton is now in.
