It’s time for another movie review from the peoples choice in movie news and reviews. This time up it is Priest.
I have to say I had mixed feelings about going to see this movie. I had read a review somewhere else that implied that this movie was not very good and I almost fell for that critics opinion but I have to remember most critics do not enjoy the same movies as most of us do, this is where I come in, The peoples choice in movie news and reviews, I review movies based on the sheer entertainment value of the movie or whatever else I am reviewing.
With that said let me tell you a little bit about Priest. It starts out with an animated backdrop of the story about the war between humans and vampires. Let me just say this movie is not one of those nonsense movies like Twilight which shows vampires as good beautiful wholesome creatures. It shows them as they are inhuman creatures subservient to satan.
It goes on to tell us how the war affected the planet how the planet was nearly destroyed and how the human race came close to extinction due to the vampires being faster and stronger than we are. But then the Church stepped in with Priests ordained by God to fight the vampires and the vampires were defeated now living on small reservations called hives.
The scene changes from animation to live action and we see a family sitting down to dinner when they seem to be attacked by something which we see later in the film were vampires. We later find out that one of the people that was taken by the vampires was the daughter of a priest and a friend or girlfriend of the local sheriff.
The sheriff which has heard about the Priest by his daughter before the kidnapping seeks the Priest out to ask for his aid in finding the girl, which the Priest does with no help from the Church. From there we get to see some good fight scenes between the Priest and the vampires.
I saw the movie in 3D because by the time I got to the theater that was all that was available. The 3D in the movie is pretty decent so I did not mind so much. The movie is entertaining and held my interest, it was a little slow in some areas but I liked this movie and from what I can tell most of the audience did as well.
I am however a little tired of vampire and zombie movies, Hollywood come up with something else, Please… Priest was derived from a graphic novel which is basically a long reading comic book. I don’t care much for most of them, unless they are Batman or Justice League novels.
But enough of that, this movie is entertaining, Go see it…
4 stars out of 5… Talk to you again soon.
