Ties, socks, stockings, a little for him – something silky for her. Roll the socks or stockings and place a rubber band around then tuck inside of a medium or large size plastic egg. Smaller eggs are sure to cause runs and snags. Do not force the ties, socks or stockings inside of small eggs.
Coins add value. Fifty cent pieces in larger plastic eggs and smaller coins in smaller eggs. Kids like shaking eggs filled with coins. Therefore, tape the edges of the egg with clear tape. Use a small piece of clear packaging tape for each side for a more secure result. Just make sure no one can crack that egg!
Dollar bills can also be added. 5 plastic Easter eggs filled with $1 each mixed with 5 plastic eggs filled with other items has been tradition to some. But if you have never done this, try it and watch them smile. Place $5 instead of $1 in 5 eggs and watch them search for more plastic eggs.
Candy is a tradition used to tuck inside of the plastic Easter egg. Place mini M&M bags, Snickers, Resee’s, gummy bears and gummy worms [for fishermen and ladies], tootsie rolls between the marshmallow bunnies, foil chocolates, Hershey’s Kisses, sugarless gum, malt balls, mini-crackers in many of the Easter eggs.
Earrings, necklace, bracelet, a charm, or a ring can be added to that a plastic egg. Most jewelry boxes come with a sponge or cardboard base where the jewelry attaches inside of the jewelry box. Find an old jewelry box, take out the inside and shape it into the formation of a rounded base. You can either cut it to fit or bend it to fit the plastic egg. Or you could simply locate a sponge and cut the sponge to fit the bottom of the plastic egg.
Jewelry should never be placed inside of a plastic Easter egg without some form of cushion, base or stability. Tape opposite sides of the egg to secure that egg from opening before being opened.
Silly bands and rubber bracelets are perfect egg fillers. Visit your local book store, department store, toy store or online store to see just what is new with silly bands or rubber bracelets.
Flexible hair bands come in various styles, colors, shapes and designs, including cloth, silk or leather. Everything must be soft enough to fit inside of an Easter egg. Smaller bands are sometimes sold in bulk. Meaning, you may have enough to fill many of the eggs.
Small erasers and rubber stamps are great for kids. Small decorative paper clips and colorful rubber bands can be added to plastic eggs for business men or women. A professional rubber stamp is not such a bad idea to create or purchase. Company logos on rubber stamps is sure to catch the attention of the receiver.
Stamps run under 50 cents unless otherwise noted. Purchasing a book of stamps and cutting them to fit an Easter egg may seem a bit extreme. But for those who have to mail daily it is a wonderful gift.
Ear buds and ear plugs are two unique and popular gifts to place inside of a plastic egg. Ear buds needs no introduction. Everyone loves music. And for those who do not wish to hear you sing there’s always ear plugs. Ear plugs can be used for swimming, avoiding loud noises or designed for a quiet nap.
Silly Putty comes in silly white eggs. The containers are medium size so they best fit in large eggs. Never take out the putty and place straight inside of an Easter egg. There is a reason for the container it is encased in. Deliver it as such.
Small key chains are fitting egg fillers. Always gather the key chains that would be appealing to the egg receiver. Meaning, don’t just put a keyring inside of an Easter egg. Be creative. Either craft up a key chain or purchase one.
Pins and small buttons can also deem good items to add. Pins can come with the receivers passion in mind. If they are a teacher then add an apple pin. If they are a fisherman then add a fish pin.
Package of seeds for the green thumb Easter lovers! Seeds of the season work best. With all of the gardening and landscaping items on the market it is obvious that you will find something small to tuck inside of a plastic egg. Small plant food sticks and any other tiny products involving growth, watering and keeping plants alive is a great addition to any box, container, even a plastic Easter egg.
Shelled nuts are great for nut lovers. Place the nuts inside of medium to large plastic Easter eggs next to a nut cracker. There is nothing nutty about that!
Make-up, lip stick and lip balm in small containers can be found at most department stores or pharmacies. There are flavors and product manufacturers to consider such as Revlon, Cover Girl, or even Burt’s Bees. If you can only find tubes of lip balm there is a way around that obstacle.
Walmart and other department stores sell travel size containers. The size approximately 1″ in diameter fits medium to large plastic egg. They are located along the hygiene isles. Simply squirt the tube of contents inside of the small round plastic container and close. Tape the opposite sides of the trail size container as a precautionary leak measure. Stick inside of the plastic Easter egg.
Trial packs of medicine, whether sinus or headache, and cough drops can be beneficial to the receiver who is not feeling that well. The pack(s) and cough drops may be used before the day is through. Place trial packs and/or cough drops inside of the eggs. This idea should accompany a get well Easter basket.
Miniature fingernail polish can be found at, again, Walmart [pending store availability]. These small nail polishes are located along the fingernail polish isle. Our local Walmart has them in hanging plastic containers at the end of the fingernail polish isle. They are less than a dollar and small enough to fit inside of a small plastic egg. Offer your eggs a colorful surprise with an array of colorful polishes.
Golf tees for the golf lover. Place some tees inside of medium or large plastic eggs. Visit your local golf shop to purchase the latest set of tees. Or save by going to Walmart.
Mini-microphones can be taken out of their cases and placed inside of a medium to large egg. These microphones are small that can be plugged into a computer, iPod, and other small electronics. They usually run close to $10 and can be found at most computer stores or some department stores.
Small batteries, such as AAA or the round kind, can be added to plastic Easter eggs. For super large plastic eggs? Toss in a pack of AA, C, or D batteries. But make sure they could use the batteries before adding them. Non-chargeable games and cameras usually burn through batteries fairly fast. In this funky bunch of colorful plastic eggs – the more the merrier.
Guitar picks do fit inside of plastic eggs. A string of nice guitar picks can add more items the guitar player can misplace. But the beauty of it is, when a guitar player begins to clean they find twice as much picks as they started with! Thanks to the plastic eggs that gives the guitar player a day off from searching.
Floss, definitely! In a plastic egg? You bet! Small floss containers can fit inside of medium to large plastic eggs. And since the day of surprise may come with a basket whereas the chocolate bunny is staring down, it is wise to add that floss. They may need it!
Catnip for the kitty. Small treats for the pup. New food stone for the fish tank. Easter bell for the birds. All could fit inside of a large plastic Easter egg. Hoping you didn’t forget the animals this Easter.
Teabags for Tea Party supporters! There is nothing wrong with placing a couple of high quality tea bags inside of plastic eggs and sending them to a Tea Party supporter. Whatever they decide to do with that egg, or other eggs for that matter, is up to them. If they were to send the plastic Easter eggs filled with tea bags to the White House [just in time for Easter] I can’t stop them and share no responsibility other than offering an idea of what to place inside of a plastic egg to a Tea Party supporter.
Gift certificates if small and flexible enough can fit inside of a large plastic egg. Do not force any gift certificates inside of the egg. These certificates should be slightly smaller than a credit card or printed on paper that can be folded.
