You know the parent…the one always with a camera taking pictures of every single motion their child makes, the one with the goofy smile at their child’s accomplishments, the one recording every moment of the softball tournament even though their child is just learning to play. Then you have seen me on the sidelines with my digital camera! My digital pictures of my child are not the only reason that I used photobucket.com. I also used it for adding multiple pictures to my Ebay auctions for free! Ebay only allows one picture for free and then you are charged for close-up and multiple pictures but with Photobucket, you can add as many pictures as you want and all for free!
Since my computer crashed making me lose hundreds of pictures, I started uploading them all into Photobucket and still have not run out of FREE space! This also includes short videos of my daughter. Signing up for Photobucket is free. You will get 1 GB of space for videos and pictures for free. If you have a popular item, you get up to 25 GB of bandwidth per month for free.
I am not technically minded as some folks and need uncomplicated instructions to use any service. With Photobucket, I was easily able to use the service with no issues. I do have to say, if you have dial-up, sometimes this will freeze your computer or take really long periods to load pictures.
Uploading pictures and videos is done with one click to choose your picture off of your computer and then you will see it on your Photobucket account. You can then add a title, descriptions, and tags to it. You can edit the size, turn it around, take out unneeded background, and adjust it in other ways like adding in borders or making it a cartoon. Then you can get the code for each way of sharing your photo: email and IM, direct link, html code, ing code. All you do is click on the link you want and you automatically have it…no need to copy and then paste it. Just click and that is it.
To add it on your Ebay auction, you would go to html mode, then paste in your link along with (Take out spacing.) This enables you to add as many pictures as you want to your Ebay auction for free! So you can put pictures of the back, front, side, close-up, full view, and even a model or mannequin modeling the item and all for free!! Remember to delete each picture once your auction has ended, freeing up even more space on your account.
What else does Photobucket offer? Free slideshows, various albums to separate your photos, avatars, share your photos on other sites with a simple click, you or your friends can purchase items with the photo on it at Photobucket. I have never had issues with outages at Photobucket as some photo storage sites. My Ebay auction pictures have been up through the entire length of the auction with no problems at all. Other sites with free online photo storage have had tons of issues and that is the reason I stopped using those!
Here are some important facts to know about using Photobucket. All photos must be 1 MB or less in size. Your photo will be automatically resized when you submit. Videos must be under 5 minutes long and 100 MB or less. If the video is longer, Photobucket will cut off any amount after that.
If you are needing more space or you fill up your free Photobucket account, you can go to Photobucket Pro for $9 per 3 months or $25 for a year. With this type of account, you get all the free account stats plus 5 GB of space, no bandwidth limit, no ads, save 10% on items with your photos on them, images up to 5 MB and 10 minutes long videos can be uploaded, as well as premium tech support.
There are many options to choose from. You can set your account to private so no one except who you invite can see your albums. Or public so anyone can see your pictures and videos. This does not negate using them on Ebay…even set to private, you can put your pictures on Ebay. You can name your photo, describe it, and put tags on each photo for easier access.
Photobucket makes it a simple process to share your videos and photos. Click share at your photo and a list of sites come up so you can add them easily and quickly. Or click EMAIL and email your photos to who you want. Or you can share the link to your whole album (or selected prints). Easily send to your contact list as Photobucket will send to your entire list from AOL, Yahoo, MSN, or GMAIL.
Free accounts could have photos deleted if you do not access them at least once in 90 days so make sure and log-in at least once within this time period. Photobucket makes it easy by remembering you every time you come back! You can opt out of that but I love not having to type in my info every time I go to the site. You can pay for the upgraded Photobucket Pro service by Paypal ,debit card, credit card, check, money order, or be billed through your cell phone. You can set up automatic billing for the service.
Customer service is very quick to answer questions. I have emailed once asking about something and they responded within hours. The website does really well on uploading times with high speed internet but not so well on dialup. My friends and family have had trouble seeing images at Photobucket and using the service with dialup. So slow that it froze up. With high speed internet though I have not had issues. With dialup I would get frustrated about the loading times. I had been worried about losing my photos but my photos on Photobucket have been safe and still there after all these years!
