Wekiwa Springs is located in Orlando , Florida . It is about an hour from most of the Central Florida attractions like Disney World and Seaworld. It is a beautiful place to experience nature. They have kayaking and canoeing. You can enjoy picnics and swimming. They have trails for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.
One tip you should remember is that they are very busy on the weekends, so you have to be sure to arrive early or else it could be full and you won’t have a parking space. It is only about six dollars per car which is very inexpensive and a great deal.
The bicycling trail is about 9 miles long but you can also use the horseback riding trails which is about 8 miles long. You will probably run into a hiker or horseback riders so you definitely want to obey the bicycling rules if you are going to use the trails.
There’s a place called Big Fork where you can go camping with your horses. It is located off of the horse trail and holds up to 10 people. This is a fantastic idea if you have horses and you want to enjoy camping experience with them. You cannot bring any other kind of pets there except horses.
As for regular camping, there are 60 campsites and each site has a water and electrical hookup. It also has picnic tables and restrooms with showers. Pets are allowed in the campground but they have to be well behaved. You can bring an RV if you have one of those. Wekiwa Springs is gorgeous so this is a great place to go camping.
As far as canoeing and kayaking, it is one of the more active things to do. My family has gone there several times now and they love it each time. You can go to the Wekiwa River of Rock Springs Run. You pay a two dollar entrance fee and then you can also rent canoes and kayaks on site. They also have guided trips if you are interested in that. My recommendation would be that you need to know how to canoe or kayak before trying it out here.
They have a concession stand there where you can find your basic snacks and sodas are available for purchase. You can go fishing at Wekiwa Springs but you have to have a fishing license. They have hiking and nature trails that are up 13 miles long. They have a trail map that you can plan out what you want to do. This place is great for meeting retreats, birthday parties and any kind of event that you want to hold there. Wekiwa Springs even has a small playground and picnic area there for both children and adults to enjoy. You can even view wildlife.
Wekiwa Springs is a beautiful place to visit. If you are visiting Orlando I definitely recommend that you stop by and spend the day and Wekiwa Springs. All the reasons mentioned above are enough to want to take advantage of all the fun you could have at Wekiwa Springs.
