Last Chance to Blink!– This weekend is your last chance to see Blink! Light, Sound, and the Moving Image, the first large-scale exhibition dedicated to electronic media from the last 30 years. The exhibition’s last day is May 1st.
Free First Saturday (Sat. May 7, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.)- Enjoy the museum’s art collections and non-ticketed exhibitions for free, on the first Saturday of every month. Free general admission tickets available at the museum starting at 10 a.m. Sponsored by Target, and made possible by the supporters of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
Create Playdates (Wed. May 11, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.)- Children age 3-5 enjoy artmaking, storytime, and games on the second Wednesday of the month. The theme for May is Hug. Cities of Splendor Chalk Art Event (Sat. May 14, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.)- Artist Michael Rieger will create three chalk masterpieces at the plaza outside the museum, one based on a piece in the Cities of Splendor exhibit. High school artists will assist Rieger on two of the works, while visitors can participate in the completing the third. The free event is taking place in partnership with Denver Chalk Art Festival. No reservations required.
Art & About Tours on AAMD Art Museum Day (Wed. May 18, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.)- In celebration of Association of Art Museum Directors’ (AAMD) Art Museum Day, Denver Art Museum will be offering special Art & About tours, which are tailored for visitors with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The theme for Art Museum Day is “museum and memory.” Four tours are scheduled for that day, and admission is free for those with early stage dementia and their care partners. Registration required. Untitled #37 (Fri. May 27, 6- 10 p.m.)- Enjoy live bands, and a cash bar while touring the museums collections. Also get schooled in the art of the tourist photo, and of course a night out isn’t complete without the unexpected.
