The first match of the night was a match between the World Champion Randy Orton and the enraged Mark Henry. If Mark Henry wins this match, Smackdown GM Teddy Long said (to Christian) that the World Title match would become a triple threat, or Henry would face Orton in a 1-on-1 match for the title (at Money in the Bank). So this match had a huge importance around it.
The match wasn’t very long, but Mark Henry beat the hell out of Randy Orton. Orton had a bloody nose due to Mark Henry’s aggressiveness. Henry performed a rare “Big Boot” on Orton, and delivered a vicious “Belly-to-Belly Suplex” on Orton as well. Henry also tried to play the psychological game with Randy. While Henry was punishing Orton, he told him “you aint the champ, I’m the champ!”
Eventually, Orton found an opening and landed his patented “DDT” on Henry. Immediately, Orton pinned Henry after landing the DDT. Henry kicked out and got out the ring to get the cobwebs out of his head after being hit with that “DDT.” Orton followed him, and Henry rammed him into the ring. Suddenly, the Big Show’s music began to play and Henry became enraged and begged for the Big Show to come down. Big Show never came and Henry realized it was a decoy. As soon as Henry turned around with his intentions on getting back to the match, Orton gave him a “RKO.”
Orton won the match by countout, but the funny part was that the referee forgot to count mention the number 9, he skipped to ten instead. Orton landing the “RKO” on Henry outside the ring lead him to a victory against the enraged Mark Henry.
Mark Henry was p*ssed because he realized that the Big Show’s music served as a purpose to distract him. So Henry went walked to production area, which is located near the entrance ramp. Henry began to ask the production team “who is the guy who plays the music?” They all pointed to one guy who located to the right of him. Mark Henry asked him “you play the music?” The guy was scared to death, but nodded his head yes. Henry ordered him to remain where he was; Henry began to walk closer to him.
Henry walked up to guy and asked him why did he play the music? The guy was scared to death and Henry began to eye his equipment that was sitting on the table. The table was filled with all types of equipment and Henry began to destroy it. The crowd was shocked as they witnessed the enraged Mark Henry throw a huge temper tantrum. Mark Henry yelled as he destroyed each piece of equipment, and he yelled “I could of won that!” (Referring to the match he had just lost against Orton).
Eventually, after Mark henry destroyed all of the equipment, he told the guy he was free to go. Immediately, the guy tried to run but Henry stopped him. Mark Henry yelled “where the hell do you think you running to?” Henry placed both hands on his throat and threw him in this area that was all black. The guy completely disappeared and Henry was finally done throwing his temper tantrum. It was later discovered that Christian was the culprit who the production team play the Big Show’s music. Christian just didn’t want Henry to become the Number One Contender.
