PB2 is an excellent low-fat alternative to conventional peanut butter. Although it contains peanuts, 85 percent of the fat is removed from the peanuts and is turned into a powder form. Take the PB2 and add a liquid of your choice and voil ! you have a spreadable low fat version of peanut butter. You can add water, you can add a bit of oil if you would like, or you could even mix it into some low-fat or fat-free cream cheese before spreading onto a cracker or a piece of bread. When you mix 2 tbsp. of PB2 with water you get one serving with 45 calories 13 of those calories from fat.
Soy Nut Butter
Soy Nut Butter is another healthy alternative to peanut butter. The flavor and texture is similar to that of peanut butter, yet it offers a lower fat and a lower calorie content. With 170 calories per serving and 99 calories from fat as opposed to the 188 calories and 135 calories from fat in peanut butter, it is a healthier, more diet-friendly alternative.
Jif Reduced Fat Peanut Butter Spread
Jif brand peanut butter company offers a reduced-fat version of its product. This lower-fat alternative still has 60 percent of the product made from peanuts to preserve the peanut taste, yet the rest of it is substituted with other ingredients such as soy and cottonseed products. For a 2 tbsp. serving, it has 25 percent less fat than regular Jif peanut butter, offering a less fattening product.
