A woman gets up, pulls together her business suit and pumps and heads to work. She gets home, snatches it all off as quickly as she can, and replaces it with some sort of lounge clothing that’s far more comfortable and less binding and restricting. For many, if you get home somewhere between 6 and 7 pm, you’re not going to jump right into bed. Perhaps flannel pajama bottoms and a tank top aren’t the best option. Perhaps it’s too cold for boxers and your boyfriend’s tee. There are numerous scenarios that can take place after work hours that a woman should consider when choosing her lounge clothing.
Scenario No. 1
Maybe you plan on having company a little later and want to be appropriately dressed for your visitor. Whether it be a significant other or just an other.
Scenario No. 2
Maybe UPS is still going to make a delivery to your house and you don’t want to be running for cover when he knocks at your door to deliver the package.
Scenario No. 3
Maybe you end up running out to the market to grab something you forgot.
Scenario No. 4
Maybe a neighbor knocks on your door to tell you that you left your lights on in your car and you have to run outside before your battery is drained.
Scenario No. 5
Maybe a cuter, hotter neighbor comes knocking on your door to invite you over for a cocktail!
There are all sorts of reasons why women are rethinking their lounge clothing. The main point here is that women need to feel prepared for all scenarios when deciding what to wear while lounging around. So here are some rules to go by when picking out those lounge-around-the-the-house clothing options.
Rule No. 1 – Make sure you’re comfortable.
You’re never going to feel good sitting around in cute, tight jeans when trying to lounge around. You need to be comfortable in what you choose. Not just comfortable in the way it feels but comfortable with how you look. Because if any of the above scenarios take place, you want to make sure you don’t feel strange and awkward.
Rule No. 2 – Pick something that makes you look as good as you feel.
Some of us like to be sexy when we’re lounging around at home. Some of us prefer to be completely covered and others would rather be cocooned in something. Just make sure that you look presentable in case you have to run out or you have an impromptu visitor.
Rule No. 3 – Don’t be super cheap when it comes to picking your lounge clothing.
These clothes are going to be some of your most used wardrobe pieces. Don’t hesitate in spending a little extra on this type of clothing because you figure you’ll just going to be lying around in them. As I mentioned, you may have to entertain, run out of the house, greet an unexpected visitor, run and check the mailbox…who knows? And these clothes may get more action than that $300 sexy dress you bought last year, still hanging in the closet with that tags on them. You do the math. Is this a purchase worth the investment?
Lounge clothing is just as critical to the wardrobe as your daytime clothing. It says as much about you as anything else you put on. Think about it the next time you reach out and grab those frumpy, flannel pajamas.
