It looks like rapper Nicki Minaj isn’t joining Britney Spears on the European leg of her “Femme Fatale” tour. Instead, it’ll be fellow Disney alum Joe Jonas!
“I’m really looking forward to being part of this,” Jonas said of joining the “Hold It Against Me” singer on tour. “It’s a dream come true.”
Ashley Greene’s ex-boyfriend said that the pop superstar was actually his first celebrity crush.
“She was the first girl I ever had a poster on my wall of, and her album was the first CD I ever bought,” he revealed. “It’s so funny to think I had that on my wall and here I am about to perform with her.”
The October concert dates will serve as a great promotion for his new album, “Fastlife,” scheduled for release on Oct. 11. He’ll join her starting on Oct. 16 in Stockholm, Sweden and conclude on Oct. 31 in London.
How will Jonas fare as her opening act? It’s hard to tell, though his music should appeal to Spears’ longtime fans. Does he make more sense than some of her other tour partners? Let’s examine.
Nicki Minaj was named Britney Spears’ opening act for her “Femme Fatale” tour after Enrique Iglesias backed out. The pink-loving rapper was excited to join the tour and expose her music to a new audience.
“I’m looking forward to it… I know this will be a different audience, and I’m exited to just be able to transition from one tour to the next and not miss a beat,” the “Pink Friday” creator told “Access Hollywood” after the announcement. “We’re going to put our all into this and make it exciting, very different than the last one, but still keep it grounded in hip hop, still make it bright and fun and theatrical.”
By all accounts, the collaboration is a huge success.
“American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks opened up for Britney Spears on many of the dates on her 2009 “Circus” tour. The pairing — though a little odd at first glance — made sense because the pair is on the same record label. The fans of both singers are around the same age and sing the same sort of pop music.
Some figured the pairing was because of Sparks’ poor album sales. No word on whether or not it help jumpstart sales, but the opening act didn’t do much to attract more people to the concerts.
Other acts that opened for Brit on the “Circus” tour include The Pussycat Dolls, Ciara and Cascada.
How do you think Joe Jonas will compare among Britney’s other opening acts?
