EBooks are just what the name implies books made available for purchase online and they come in electronic form rather than print. EBooks are a simple and cost effective way to produce and publish your own book. This is mainly due to the fact that with eBooks everything is done electronically. Therefore almost anyone can become an Author if they have a solid topic, a computer, internet access, and a knack for writing.
The first step to creating an eBook is picking a topic. The topic should be something you know a lot about, or at least something you are interested in and don’t mind doing a lot of research for. Also since you want your book to be focused and provide specific information to the reader it is important to narrow your topic so that you can stay on point. You don’t want too broad of a topic or you could get lost in sub topics. However If your topic is too narrow then you could run out of things to write about, So ensure you put serious thought into your topic.
Next no matter how much you think you know about your topic it is important to do a ton of research. The reason for this is that you want to give your readers useful and accurate information. Also by supporting your points with references or giving varying points of view, you will look more credible and therefore more likely to gain the trust of your readers. Use only trusted sources for your research make sure you know the information is correct before you include it in your book.
Once you have done your homework it is time to put your book together. Personally I prefer to sub divide my topic into articles, this way everything is more organized and I write each article one at a time. This is just a personal preference but I feel it makes the process less overwhelming and helps to keep me focused on the topic of my EBook. So my process breaks down as follows: the table of contents, introduction, each article, and finally a conclusion that ties everything together. This is my process but of course you will need to find what works for you. The important thing here is to break it down into a step by step process so it’s not overwhelming. It is a lot easier to wrap your mind around twenty articles rather than 300 pages. Make sure you edit each and every page of your book thoroughly there is nothing more embarrassing to a writer than misspelled words and bad grammar. Once you are sure everything is perfect go back and proof read again. Then hand it to a friend to proof read for you.
- When you book is complete it is time to figure out how you want to publish it. This step varies depending on what the purpose of you EBook is. I myself prefer to sell my eBooks at a low price so I publish through websites like Lulu or ClickBank. If publishing through a site such as these you will need to convert your eBook into a format like pdf; which can usually be done at little to no cost. Depending on how and where you chose to publish your book, it may be necessary to create a website to show case it. At any rate when your eBook is complete the work is only half done. This process may be time consuming and tedious but it is very necessary to get everything a hundred percent. You should do some research to find the best fit for you when it comes to publishing. Each publishing site is going to offer different services so choose wisely; this is especially true if you need help with marketing.
Finally enjoy your new creation and promote it everywhere, the only way to get readers to view your work is to first find them and draw them in. Use things like forums, social bookmarking sites, and links in emails to show your book to everyone.
