Franklin, Massachusetts has jumped on the bandwagon with a rise in consignment stores located within the town. In fact, there are three great quality consignment stores (although one is more of a resale store), and each are a wonderful way to help the environment and utilize the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” I love this saying. So, if you are looking to add a little more green to your life, visit the three consignment stores listed below.

Downtown consignment is an upscale consignment shop that does it all: men’s, women’s, juniors and children’s clothing. On their website it states, “in today’s economy, consignment shopping is not only fun and a smart way to shop, but is also very “green”. Recycling gently worn clothing is good for the environment. It also puts “green” in your pocketbook, leaving you guilt-free to add fun, creative clothing and accessories to your wardrobe,” which is a wonderful way to state the perks of resale stores. Consignment shopping is fun, and affordable, and it makes your life a whole lot greener.

Switch is a resale clothing store that specializes in teen and adult clothing. They urge that they are NOT a consignment store because they pay you for your clothing immediately. You can literally sell them your items, and buy new ones. The inventory switches on a daily basis, so make sure to stop in often! The items at this store are very high quality, and all in good shape- so you won’t even think twice about buying something that someone else has sold.
Polished Penny Kids.

Polished Penny Kids is a great place to resell your old children’s clothes, maternity clothes and toys and gear. Above that, it is a wonderful place to shop. They urge everyone to join in on the recycle clothing trend, and realize that you can get top quality items at a resale store. Polished Penny Kids is a clean, inviting and well organized consignment store that is absolutely worth visiting.
Be certain to call ahead at any of these stores when planning to sell your items, they have various rules and times for this. Often, you must schedule an appointment in advance to sell to consignment stores, so be sure to plan ahead. Also, remember that the clothing changes daily, and just because you did not find anything special on Monday, does not mean you won’t on Tuesday! Consignment stores are starting to sprout up, in a universal attempt to help save our environment. Not only will it green our environment, but it will keep your wallet full of green as well!
