Gabrielle Giffords pictures and photos were released this weekend creating quite a buzz for a weekend news story. The pictures weren’t originally released by the media-they were instead released on Giffords Facebook page.
People Magazine posted the two Gabrielle Giffords pictures here . In the photos, Giffords looks not only happy but in good condition. She has such a captivating smile that it would be hard to tell what she has gone through in the past 6 months following the January 6, 2011 shooting that killed 6 and injured 13. The tragic shooting left Giffords seriously wounded with a head injury. She was reported at one point to be in critical condition. So these newest pictures and photos of her with a big grin are not only encouraging but seemingly miraculous.
Time Magazine has also posted the same two pictures and photos here. A story earlier this week had indicated that Giffords wasn’t even close to returning to office. In fact, the Arizona Republic posted this story that revealed that Giffords is still having communications issues. It seems she still has a long road of recovery still ahead of her. Maybe she won’t return to office. Perhaps her political career is over to some degree. Still, it’s incredibly uplifting to see her smiling. And who could rule out a comeback for a lady who continues to amaze many of us after such a tragedy? It’s so amazing to see such a positive image set forth on her Facebook page. That’s why she’s an easy person to root for. That kind of spirit is the kind of attitude we all should have in the face of tragedy.
These must be such encouraging times considering what happened during that horrible January moment. It’s almost unimaginable that she could be on her way home soon following the horrific moment to start the year. Perhaps that’s a testament to her strength and passion to return to normalcy.
A story in New York Magazine says Giffords plans to leave her rehab center in Houston sometime in June. It appears she may still have a fight on her hands with different types of therapy but it seems her release will mark a triumphant moment. Even though many of us haven’t met her, it’s easy to see that she is a very brave and strong woman.
Her smiles in the latest photos on her Facebook page are indicative of someone who seems to be happy despite the horrifying circumstances she had endured.
For that, it’s nice to know that the random guy who went on the shooting rampage did not completely ruin the lives of everyone. It’s encouraging that Giffords isn’t going to let that guy win-and I think many of us are in agreement that Giffords story is one of amazing spirit and fortitude.
That’s why the release of these photos are so compelling to many of us. That story has touched many of us who can’t begin to comprehend what it would be like to be involved in a situation like that or lose a loved one in that type of scenario.
So the day she walks out of the rehab center with a smile on her face will be a day we can all applaud her courageous effort and spirit. I think the smile on the two pictures says just about everything we need to know about her character.
Whether she returns to office or not is irrelevant to many of us who have watched as an outsider looking in. Even if she never spends another day as a politician, Giffords has already illustrated her strength and character goes well above and beyond.
