Frugal living in strange places is not that irregular. You have to ask why in the world would anyone want to live in a cave, a personally designed and built UFO house or even in a missle silo? Well, I never question the intensity of free spirit and a wish to make dreams come true. Dreams, the passions and love of a certain thing and want this to come true. I often think about that old Gilligan’s island show and how peaceful and quiet a life might be on a deserted island in a simple bamboo hut. Maybe I would qualify to live on the Mars surface, haha… But People are always trying to find economical places to live some are quirky, and some are natural but some of the strangest places are the most inexpensive. Here are a couple interesting dwellings people are living in even today.
This might not sound so strange to a caveman and to some others but for me living in a cave sounds uncomfortable and cold. Unless you are the man who got caught living within the confines of Los Alamos National Laboratories inside a cave. He lived there for years without being noticed, and he had many comforts of home including a woodstove and solar panels, a satellite radio. The only thing I can see he did not have was running water and a bathroom. So living in a cave might be the most frugal living possible.
Again this might sound strange but depending on where you choose to live. Like a man in the book called “Into the Wild” who chose to live in a deserted, old bus in the wilds of Alaska. He lived there and survived on rice and bear meat until he ate something that would normally sound ok to eat, potato plant seeds and passed away from the toxins from those seeds in his body. I do know people who live in buses, and they can be set up really nice inside including mahogany wood and chandeliers.
Some underground houses are nice, but most of them are not completely underground. I have seen drawings of houses completely underground almost like a large studio apartment inside. These types of homes I don’t scoff at, since they would be totally more comfortable than houses regular built homes. The ground would act as a natural insulator making heating and cooling no problem at all.
In a Tree
In my opinion tree house homes would be a risk to live in but some people have them anyway. Trees sway and move in a wind storm ,so I guess it would feel the same as living inside a boat which I have done before except trees attract lightening. Living in a tree might be the second best frugal living home.
Yes, people actually have made homes out of these old silo relics. You might be wondering why would anyone want to live in one? They are incredibly stable, resistent to all kind of weather, tonados and are well built. But I would want the place carefully scaned for any kind of radiation before undertaking a home in one of these strange places for sure.
A UFO House
Why not? There are people who believe living on another planet might be provincial and this unique home brings a kind of hope for their dreams to come true. . Personally one of the best UFO buildings I have seen managed to find in one of the music videos by Ryan Dan with “Like the Sun”. I have found this song in a number of places and even on YouTube.
