The Ford Fiesta is already on the market for some time now and Ford released details about several new features which will be make the Fiesta more attractive to customers starting with 2012. According to the Detroit carmaker, the 2012 Ford Fiesta will come with three new packages offering several new customization options.
“The Fiesta customer loves accessories and personalization. These packages extend the desire the customer has to make the car more tailored to his or her own personal tastes,” said Lew Echlin, Global Car marketing manager. “Personalization has been key since the Fiesta launched, and with the new packages we’re featuring the latest design trends so customers can do even more with their car.”
The three packages include an exterior package and two new interior packages. According to Ford, the decision was made after more than 40 percent of Fiesta customers opted for at least one accessory for their car. Also, Ford’s decision was influenced by a recent study made by SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) which revealed that more than 1 million cars bought each year have one or more accessories installed on it.
“The appeal of accessories reflects on other trends in society, including the desire to personalize phones, computers and clothing,” said Sheryl Connelly, manager of Ford Global Trends and Futuring. “People don’t customize to stand out from the crowd; they do it to create a more meaningful connection.”
The exterior package includes a rear roof spoiler available in matching or contrasting color, a sporty body kit featuring sculpted front air dam and side skirts, Ford Custom Graphics by Original Wraps which offer customers several graphics and racing stripes with more than 22 designs available, plus a unique “Fiesta” body-side vinyl graphic.
As for the interior packages, the features include a lot of trendy goodies, like Oxford White and Race Red high-contrasting interior accent colors for the central console, the leather seats, the vent trim rings and the door panels, accents which draw their inspiration from the fashion world.
“The inspiration for this package is mainly a result of the trends we’re seeing in fashion,” explained Mark Conforzi, chief designer, Ford Vehicle Personalization. “Designers like Stella McCartney use bold, contrasting color similar to these interior packages, adding a one-of-a-kind design that looks amazing.”
Other features include “Fiesta” logos embedded on the seats, illuminated gear knob, special LED-illuminated “Fiesta” logo on the door sill plates, LED-illuminated cupholders available in seven colors and plenty of others choices allowing basically every customer to make his Fiesta unique.
The interior and exterior packages will only be available for top-of-the-line SEL and SES models and will be available for order later this year.
