Five Best 2011 Educational Summer Camps in Spartanburg, South Carolina

It’s time to find a fun and educational camp for your child to attend this summer 2011! I have five of the best summer educational camps for residents in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

Summer Science Camp @ Spartanburg Science Center

The Spartanburg Science Center will offer a preschool science camp for ages (3-5) from 5/31-6/3. The preschooler camps are only 1 hour sessions offered at 10AM, 11AM, and 1OPM on each day. The cost per session is $35. Preschoolers will learn about animals, rocks, and the StarLab.

Age 6-11 years science camps will be offered for ½ day or full day if you combine 2 camps. The AM session will be 9:30AM-12noon and costs $80, the PM session is 1:00PM-4:00PM and costs $90. These science camps will run 6/6-8/12. If attending for both morning and afternoon sessions a box lunch will be provided.

Depending on which day and session your child attends science camp, they will study subjects such as Reptiles, Oceanography, Crime Scene Investigation, Dinosaurs and Fossils, Chemistry and physics with fun labs, Earth Science, Aviation, Astronomy, and Big Predators.

Ballet of Spartanburg Dance Camps

If your child enjoys dance and the arts, Ballet camp may be a good fit. For beginners who want to learn ballet, Creative A/B is offered for ages 3-4 June 7, 9, 21, 23, 29 and 30th from 11:00-11:50AM for boys and girls and the cost is $75. For ballet dancers with previous ballet training can hone their skills at the Mini Junior Intensive Dance Camp! Participants in this class will practice ballet, pointe/pre-pointe, jazz and yoga with full time faculty members at Ballet Spartanburg. This dance camp is for boys and girls age 10 and above and will be held July 11-22 each day from Monday-Friday from 10AM-3:15PM. The camp cost is $475. Summer X-perience Camp by Spartanburg Parks Commission

Each summer the Spartanburg Parks Commission offers continuous summer camps from the end of school May 31st to the beginning of another school year in August. Each week of camp is based on a theme such as Character development, nutrition, sports, fitness, and special events with speakers. The camps are held at various locations in Spartanburg County and are for ages 5-12. Full day camp hours are 7:15-3:30 and costs $75 per week for in district and includes field trips. The weekly cost for out of district students is $94 and includes field trips. A deposit of $75 dollars is due prior to starting camp. Community registration is April 29. Spartanburg Day School Summer Camp

Summer camps programs offered by Spartanburg Day School include art, enrichment, athletics and academics. The camps are run by certified elementary teachers. The average cost for summer camp at SDS is $130 per week. Camp dates at SDS are June 6-July 22. Day camps are available for girls and boys all ages. Fine Arts Day Camp at Converse College

Four two week sessions are available this summer at Converse College for boys and girls grades K-6th. Dates for these sessions begin on June 6 and continues through Aug 5th. The cost range is $300 for one two-week session to $1,000 for all four two-week sections. This fee includes camp T-shirt, all supplies, daily snacks and a dining plan at Gee dining hall at Converse! Interactive classes include art, creative writing, dance, music and theatre taught by Converse arts and education majors.
