The Historic Roanoke City Market is the oldest farmer’s market in Virginia. The market’s vendors display their wares under outdoor, covered stalls. There is a wide array of seasonal produce, herbs, jams, jellies, eggs, pastries, plants, flowers, and handcrafted items which include photography and iron work. The market also hosts live entertainment on Saturdays as well as cooking demonstrations. The Historic Roanoke City Market has 40 vendors and free and paid parking is available.
West End Community Market

The West End Community Market is sponsored by the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op. The motto of the market is “local is good” and it strictly accepts products from farms no more than 100 miles from the market. The market not only offers traditional fruits and vegetables but also sells grass-fed beef, chicken, fresh and smoked rainbow trout, specialty cheeses, and breads. The West End Community Market also promotes organic and biodynamic methods of farming.
Grandin Village Community Market

The items sold at the Grandin Village Community Market are from within a 50 mile radius. This outdoor market has a rotating schedule of arts, crafts, and music and specializes in organically grown produce. Other products sold at the market include seedlings, free-range meats, seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. There’s also milled organic grain bread and other organically prepared baked goods.
Salem’s Farmer’s Market

The Salem Farmer’s Market is an outdoor covered market that was built in 1993 and emphasizes products that are grown and produced locally. The market showcases a wide array of fruits, vegetables (organic and non organic), organic local honey, heirloom varieties of vegetables, seeds, and pastries. The Salem Farmer’s Market permits crafts as long as they have been created from items grown and harvested locally. Vendors also sell goat cheese and unique jams and jellies (including Dr. Pepper Jelly!).
