Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened on this Day in History?

1614 – In Virginia, Native American Pocahontas marries English colonist John Rolfe

1792 – U.S. President George Washington exercises his authority to veto a bill, the first time this power is used in the United States

1933 – U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs Executive Order 6102 “forbidding the Hoarding of Gold Coin, Gold Bullion, and Gold Certificates” by U.S. citizens

2010 – Twenty-nine coal miners are killed in an explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia

1967-1994 – Kurt Cobain, musician (Nirvana) who was married to Courtney Love

1914-2000 – Lee Petty, American race car driver who was one of the pioneers of NASCAR

1967-2002 – Layne Staley, American musician (Alice in Chains)

1953-2005 – Debralee Scott, American actress best known for her role on the sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter as the sweathog Rosalie “Hotsy” Totsy

1956-2007 – Mark St. John, American musician (Kiss)

1923-2008 – Charlton Heston, famous American actor, Ben Hur in Ben-Hur, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
