Nothing is more functional that a farmhouse sink. Any gourmet kitchen would be well-outfitted with one of these large vessels. They can hold more than their own in pots, pans and dishes. Once you’ve learned about their charms, you’ll be hard-pressed not to want one. Here’s what they have to offer.
Maximum Wash Room
When it comes to room for washing up after a big party or meal, nothing beats a farmhouse sink. The generous amount of space and depth of these sinks allow you to soak dishes, pots, pans and utensils out of sight for a large crowd, instead of stacking them on the counter.
Even better, those large handle skillets, lasagna pans and double roasters will fit in a farmhouse sink without have to turn them sideways or try to wash them on an angle. Now that’s a welcome feature for anyone.
You may think a farmhouse sink is nothing more than an over-sized tub – but, think again. The size of these sinks allow for multiple configurations because they are so big.
Many farmhouse sinks are big enough to house a compact dish rack right inside the sink – out of sight whether empty or full. Also, you can easily place a small colander (or two) inside the sink when prepping your meals with no need to dirty the counter. Make it even more functional by installing a garbage disposal with the vessel and prep work clean up is a snap.
Here’s another clever idea. If you have a counter-surfer dog in your home, sometimes it’s hard to let baked goods cool down without fear of them becoming a canine treat. Your problems are solved with a farmhouse sink. Simply place baked goods on a wire rack and set them safely inside the large tub and out of reach from your canine companion.
Plenty of Style
If all you can envision for a farmhouse sink is a big, boring white porcelain container that won’t match your designer thinking, you’re in for a real treat. Today’s models come in so many shapes, sizes and styles – you’ll be amazed at what you can work into a high style kitchen – including stainless steel.
