If you’re looking for ways to share art with your kids, give them hands-on experience! Tampa’s local art community offers plenty of options for your children to get creative. Programs vary: some cater to younger artists, while others focus on art for teens. A few programs encourage you to get in there and create with your kids, while others offer children a chance to explore art together in a group. You don’t have to commit to an expensive summer camp –check out these amazing programs.

Art from the Heart Cafe, Dunedin

This studio offers everything you and your kids need to paint your own unique pottery masterpieces. Just pick your favorite pottery “canvas” and let your imagination run wild! You’ve got to take advantage of the family craft nights at Art from the Heart Cafe. On the first Friday of each month, Moms paint free when accompanied by their children. Enjoy coffee while you play with paint! The same deal applies to Dads on the last Friday of each month. Studio fees are $8 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under. Pottery prices range from $3 to $32.

Beach Art Center Kreative Kids Summer Art Camps, Indian Rocks Beach

Ceramics, origami, fabric arts, comic books and more — the Beach Art Center holds half-day summer art camp each week during June and July, with different themes and concentrations. Classes are offered Monday through Friday, in morning or afternoon sessions. Parents can enroll their kids in any or all of the sessions offered! It’s a flexible way to expose your child to different art styles without committing to a summer-long camp.

You Do the Dishes: Paint Your Own Pottery and Coffee Shop, Tampa

Pick out your favorite piece of bisque pottery, paint it any way you like it, and leave it with the folks at You Do the Dishes. They glaze it and fire it, and in a few days, you pick up your finished masterpiece! Check out their Freaky Friday event, where kids 13 and under paint for $4 per hour after 5 p.m. This is a great way for you to relax and spend some creative time with the kids, and make some beautiful memories together!

Color Me Mine, Tampa

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the summer, Color Me Mine hosts an art adventure workshop for kids. Each week has a different theme, like Garden Week or Bon Appetit Week, and different projects. It’s $35 for each workshop, which lasts 3 hours. A t-shirt is included with registration, so your kids don’t cover their duds while they create their works of art. Some workshops include a snack activity like making popcorn balls or ice cream sundaes!
