Life is a collection of struggles, victories, and just normal days. Sometimes it seems the struggles are many, the victories are few, and the normal days are there so we can catch our breath. So many of us, including me, turn to the Bible for inspiration or guidance for the challenges we face. I also turn to the Bible for the triumphs I have been blessed with, and scriptures I can read just for the normal days. Let’s take a look.
Struggles and/or Challenges
There are any given number of struggles and challenges we may face on any given day. Could be money, love, life in general, maybe we even have a loved one that is sick or dying. I always turn to a few of my favorites for comfort:
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord
Most of my life strains are fear based and each of these passages reminds me to trust my faith, have hope and know that God is there in my times of need.
One of the best parts of life is all the blessings we will receive. Maybe we got the big promotion that we deserved, or a child that we prayed for. It could be making it through a problem that we thought there was no answer for. I never forget to incorporate a verse or two in prayer, thanking God for all that I have.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
To me a normal day is one that has no problems and has no celebrations. These are the days I use to catch my breath but it doesn’t mean that I won’t read a couple of verses to encourage me for tomorrow.
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Just reading these, will encourage me and fill my heart with hope that maybe tomorrow will be another normal day. I believe these passages communicate trust, understanding, and through faith we will have peace.
I use the Bible and it’s teachings everyday as a tool to keep myself in balance, to know there is a purpose for my existence and to live the best I can for the short period of time that I am on this earth. There are many more verses of inspiration, the only thing you need to do is open the good book and have faith in what you are reading.
