Artwork doesn’t have to be limited to framed paintings, photographs, and posters. Update your at home decor with wall art that you create – even if you aren’t an artist. Temporary and inexpensive, these easy to make wall hangings can be changed in less than fifteen minutes. This allows you to transform the art in an infant, child, or teen’s room so to meet with their changing interests. You also can add a cheery image or framed saying or quote to a bathroom wall, laundry room, or hallway.
Supplies for Wall Pictures
You will need a computer and a color printer to create the artwork. For a little extra money, consider upgrading from regular photocopy paper to a nice business or resume paper. When you print on the page, it will look a bit nicer.
You will also need photograph frames. These do not have to be expensive. Check out discount options at dollar stores and big box stores. If you don’t like what you find, or you want to coordinate your frame to your artwork, rub the frame with some fine sandpaper and then repaint it with acrylic paints (you can find small bottles for less than a dollar).
You can cover a frame with ribbon, buttons, seashells, decorative glass pieces, small toys, beads, etc that you can fix in place with a hot glue gun. Be creative and tie-in decorative elements on the frame with the content of the image within the frame.

Inspirational Words- Look on your word processing software for page backgrounds. You’ll find a wide array of colors that you adjust the intensity as well as patterns and textures that you can also change for color. You can also use clip art. Next, add a single word to the page, such as “love,” “dream,” or “imagine.” You can even hang two 4″ x 6″ or 5″ x 7″ frames next to one another to create a short message, such as, “sweet” and “dreams.”
Quotes and Sayings– Frame a favorite saying and hang it somewhere it can inspire you during your day. Print the saying on colored paper or select a background color and a complementary text color. Decorate the frame and you can turn this into an inexpensive gift.
Fun Photos– Take a favorite photo and recolor it. Check to see if you have this option with your word processing software. Print the photo four different ways and frame each separately. Display this wall art in a group. Or, crop a photo into four sections and set each section in a different frame.
