Many years ago I removed most of my chemical cleaners from our home. I felt they were contributing to many illnesses my family was facing, and I have found ways to clean that do not include toxic chemicals. Over the years I have used a variety of microfiber cleaning cloths, some much more efficient than others.
Trasan, Norwex and E-Cloth are my favorites, and today I want to tell you about the E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth. I just finished cleaning windows, bathroom mirrors & shower tile, counter tops, microwave, and my kitchen sink with this cleaning cloth and it did an amazing job!
The E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth measures 12.5″ by 12.5″. It is fairly thick and is made up of millions of fibers that are, according to the company, 1/100th the width of a human hair. When I first used the cloth to clean the front of my microwave, I was amazed that it didn’t just glide over the surface like other cleaning cloths, instead it seemed to grab the surface, easily removing all smudges and finger prints. It left my microwave looking shiny and new! I simply dried it with a cheap paper towel.
The next task was to clean my windows, and I wondered how the E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth would perform with this much dreaded household chore. I ran the cloth under hot water, squeezed out the excess, and scrubbed my large picture window in our living room. The window was not very dirty on the inside, but the outside had smudge marks, finger prints and bird messes. I found the cloth very effective at removing these messes, and again I dried the window with an inexpensive plain paper towel. The window looked amazing, but the sun was not shining through it yet. Many times I think my window is spotless, but when the sun shines through it I can still see smudges and streaks. Not with the E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth, I have a streak free shine on my window! I hate to clean windows, it is my most dreaded chore, but now I can clean my windows in mere minutes, and they look cleaner without using any chemicals! Only water is needed.
Instructions came with my E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth, which suggest spraying water onto your windows, mirrors, stainless steel, and all shiny surfaces, then fold the dry cloth and wipe. I found my cleaning method more effective. I am so impressed with the job this cloth did cleaning numerous surfaces in my home. The only item it did not clean well was the soap scum and water marks on my shower tile.
Many people today suffer from allergies, chemical sensitivities and auto-immune deficiencies. I feel it is safer to clean my home with the E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth and water than it is to use chemical cleaners. Cleaning in this manner also saves me money in the long run because I don’t have to purchase cleaning products! When cared for properly, the E-Cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth will last for years.
Washing instructions state to rinse the cloths in warm water and wash them regularly. You can either wash them in hot water (temperature of 200 degrees F), or boil them in a saucepan. If you use detergent to clean them you should only use a small amount and rinse the cloths well. You should not use bleach or fabric softener and they should not be dried with any drier sheets. Simply tumble dry or hang dry. They do recommend placing them in a washing bag when using a washing machine, but I don’t do this and have never had any problems with the cloths coming out great. They are guaranteed to hold up for 300 washes.
