It’s the final fight for the mirror ball trophy. Hard work has paid off for three couples in a tight race and one of them will win tomorrow night.
Two make it or break it rounds of competition. One will be the judges choice dance- the judges have chosen a dance for each couple that they feel needs improvement. A judge also visited the couple during the week to help them with their weaknesses and help them highlight their strengths.
Judges Choice Dances
Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas- Samba- Carrie Ann showed up to coach Chelsea for the finals. They chose the samba because they thought Chelsea danced well, but her samba was too perky. Chelsea proved why she was in the finals as she strutted across the dance floor. Carrie Ann called it, “Hot! Hot! Hot!” She definitely lost the perkiness and added some sexiness to her dance. The judges gave her 29 out of 30 points.
Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy- Samba- Bruno visited Kirstie and Maks to help her with her technique- especially her arm movements. Kirstie may have trouble with her arms, but knows how to move the rest of her body. She had a fun dance that highlighted her sexy style. She received 27 out of 30 points.
Hines Ward & Kym Johnson- Quickstep- Len informed us that Hines needed work on his footwork on his last quickstep, which is why it was the chosen dance for him. Hines worked on his footwork, but it’s still his smile that I prefer to watch every week. He showed improvement from his last quickstep, because the judges gave him 29 out of the 30 this time.
Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas- Freestyle- Young, energetic, and fun! When Chelsea wasn’t shaking her body all over the dance floor to the fast-paced music, Mark was spinning her around in one way or another. There were a few missteps, but Chelsea was still fantastic. Perfect score! She received 30 out of 30 points.
Combined score- 59/60.
Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy- Freestyle- Kirstie proved why she’s a star and why she’s still here. She was sexy, vibrant, and spectacular. She took some amazing risks- especially for her age, and her lifts were beautiful. The judges gave her 27 out of 30.
Combined score- 54/60.
Hines Ward & Kym Johnson- Freestyle- Hines and Kym put on a halftime show. It was a cute idea, but the first part wasn’t executed with as much fun as it sounded. Part of the problem was the band pulling them down. The music was hard enough to dance to, but the band was horrifying, making it even worse. The dance took a turn for more fun after Hines ripped off is sleeves and proved that he can shake his body as well as Kirstie and Chelsea. Perfect score! He received 30 out of 30 points.
Combined score- 59/60.
Chelsea and Hines are in the lead with a tied score of 59. Kirstie is slightly behind them with a 54. It’s a tight score and anyone can win. The deciding vote for the mirror ball trophy that will be given out tomorrow night is in the dialing and typing fingers of America.
