Come Celebrate Memorial Day 2011 in South Carolina

Memorial Day is just around the corner and the Palmetto State is full of events to help you celebrate, from the upstate to the low country.

Freedom Weekend Aloft kicks off on May 27, 2011 and runs through May 30 at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, SC. You can buy your tickets in advance at participating Bi-Lo grocery stores. Up until May 26th, tickets are $7.50 per person but kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult. If you don’t buy your tickets in advanced, tickets are $10.00 May 27 ‘” 29 but Memorial Day admission on the 30th is free for everyone. The ticket price does include admission to amphitheater concert admission. The parking fee for each day is $5.00. The hours of the event are Friday, May 27 – 3 PM – 11 PM; Saturday, May 28 – 12 Noon – 11 PM; Sunday, May 29 – 12 Noon – 11 PM; and Monday, May 30 – 12 Noon – 9 PM.

Many events are scheduled to take place during the four day event. You can enjoy hot air balloons, concerts, a family fun zone, US disc dog nationals, sporting events, an acoustic stage and a grill off sponsored by Bi-Lo groceries stores. Spoleto Festival USA runs from May 27 ‘” June 12 in historic Charleston, SC. Spoleto is a performing arts festival held annually. Performances include dance, theater, opera and music. The Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach, SC is an 8 day event that is fun for the entire family. We already know that Myrtle Beach is a hotspot for summer vacations but with the Sun Fun Festival taking place there’s even more to do. This year the 60 th annual Sun Fun Festival kicks off on May 28 th just after the Memorial Day Weekend Parade in downtown Myrtle Beach between 8 th and 9 th Avenue North. In Great Falls, SC the Flopeye Fish Festival takes place on Saturday, May 28 th from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and admission is free.
