Brock Lesnar announced yesterday that he was pulling out of UFC 131 with another case of Diverticulitis. Lesnar was set to fight Junior Dos Santos on June 11, 2011, but had to pull out because of the sickness.
“Diverticulitis is small, bulging sacs or pouches of the inner lining of the intestine (diverticulosis) that become inflamed or infected. Most often, these pouches are in the large intestine (colon)” (Pub Med Health)
Nobody knows what causes Diverticulitis, but eating a low fiber diet is one of the most likely causes. Brock Lesnar had a case of diverticulitis in October of 2009 and did not come back to fight again in the UFC until March of 2010. This case of diverticulitis will not only keep him out of UFC 131, but will keep Lesnar from having a chance to win back the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Brock Lesnar won the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 91 with his TKO victory over Randy Couture in 2008, he defended the title by beating Frank Mir by TKO and Shane Carwin by Triangle Choke after being beaten up by Carwin in the first round of their fight. Lesnar lost the UFC Heavyweight Title to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121. Cain Velasquez pounded Brock Lesnar out in the first round of their fight, Lesnar never had a chance.
UFC 131 was going to be Brock Lesnar’s chance to get back into the championship hunt, but Diverticulitis changed his plans. Shane Carwin will step in for Lesnar at UFC 131 against Junior Dos Santos, the winner of the fight will fight Cain Velasquez for the UFC Heavyweight Championship late summer or early fall this year.
Brock Lesnar lost out due to his health. This is his second instance of Diverticulitis. Lesnar may decide it is a good idea to change his diet to improve his health. Might I speculate with others and wonder if steroids or HGH use might have an effect on an athlete’s colon. Brock Lesnar is naturally huge, but his diet and exercise have a part in the way he looks and lives his life.
Brock Lesnar announced yesterday that he was pulling out of UFC 131 with another case of Diverticulitis. Lesnar was set to fight Junior Dos Santos on June 11, 2011, but had to pull out because of the sickness. Some people think this will hurt the PPV event, but Shane Carwin will fill in perfectly well. Get well Brock Lesnar, change your diet and get back to the UFC soon. Your personality sucks, your attitude is rude and obnoxious, but many of us await your return to the UFC.
