In the big sky country of Montana you can look up virtually anywhere and see walls of rock and stone. Don’t look down though; if all you see is blue and white, you could be standing at the top. We’re down here on terra firma in Missoula Montana at Blossom’s Missoula Bed & Breakfast (1). Blossom’s promises that gracious western hospitality you never knew and once you’re here a vacation destination you never knew you could live without. Set in a 1910 Craftsman style house, Blossom’s has plenty of amenities and promises a restored elegance you can feel. Plenty of amenities and a classical feeling are nice, but how about the beds? What makes an evening spent in this just off the highway destination worth crossing the tracks? Let’s head on inside Blossom’s Missoula Bed & Breakfast and see if this is somewhere that you should Sleep Here Now (2).
With its four well-appointed rooms, each with private bath, Blossom’s Missoula Bed & Breakfast promises a world of relaxation away from home. Amenities at Blossom’s include air conditioning, memory foam mattress, LCD flat-panel TV’s and DVD players, complimentary beverages and many other surprises. The main level at Blossom’s has a full functioning business center with copy, fax and scanner. For the gamer there is a full pool table which all guests are able to enjoy.
One of the things which most surprised me when we arrived is that Blossom’s is in a neighborhood, very nearby the highway. The proximity of such a house to the highway may turn off some potential guests. However the fact that Blossom is centrally located is great for folks who get easily lost. Even though some of the ambient noise is distantly audible at times, this did not impact either our sleep or our stay at the bed & breakfast.
The innkeeper was not on premises when we arrived. However we knew this going in and were able to make it into our room without incident and with her instructions. Some people may be uncomfortable with this type of protocol. However there were multiple fail-safes in place. When I came back out to the car to get something on the street, several neighborhood eyes zoned in on me so this fact alone led me to the conclusion that any funny business is likely not tolerated.
The bed we slept on was a full sized bed and was admittedly small. However the memory foam mattress gave us both our full space and rest was lovely. We awoke to a family of four deer grazing out on the front yard just before sunrise; another rustic reminder of mother nature all around us. Blossom’s Missoula Bed & Breakfast may not be the first place you think to stay when coming off of I-90 in Missoula. There are scores of other chain hotels clamoring for your attention. However just a short distance away from all that lies a bed & breakfast which offers a clean, comfortable, homey alternative so many of us are seeking when out on the road.
