Plan a one day getaway to one of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches. Wrightsville Beach is only a two hour drive from Raleigh, North Carolina which makes it an ideal location for a one day trip. Leave early in the morning to experience everything Wrightsville Beach has to offer. Every street at Wrightsville Beach have public access to the ocean. This makes the sound of a day trip even better. There’s so much to do at Wrightsville Beach. You can go swimming, surfing, fishing, build sand castles, and collect seashells. The beach also has a children’s playground, a tennis court, basketball court, soccer field, and softball field for the sports lovers. Dad may want to visit the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course, the only public golf course in town. It has 18 holes over 6,654 yards with a par of 71.
A 2 ½ hour drive is not bad for a day trip especially when it’s to the beach! Kure Beach is another fine vacation spot that is not far from Raleigh and Durham. There are many family friendly activities to do at an affordable price in Kure Beach. Fort Fisher is a historical site of the Civil War that would be great to tour. Admission is free. Fascinate the kids by the aquatic life at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Over 2,500 animals are showcased: alligators, moray eels, stingrays, sharks, venomous snakes, and much more. Children ages 3 to 12 get in for $6, teens and adults 13-61 get in for $8, and seniors 62 can tour for $7. Kure Beach also has nearby lakes, parks, shopping areas, outdoor recreation areas, and expeditions to keep visitors entertained.
Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park, Greensboro
Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park is the largest water park in the Carolinas. It is a family friendly water park, so it will be fun for mom, dad, and the little ones. Happy Harbor and Splash Island are the two areas in the park designated for children. The park has over 36 rides and attractions: the Raging Rapid, Leisure Lagoon, Daredevil Drop, Twin Twister, The Edge, Cyclone Zone, and Lazee River are only a few.
