Growing up in the UK, one of my first visits to Bath, England was on a school trip when I was twelve. Decades later, Bath is still one of Europe’s top tourist destinations, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and just as beautiful as ever. But one of the main things changed in Bath in the last 30 years is the standard of Bath’s hotels. Vastly improved from when I was a kid, Bath now has hundreds of stunning hotels, with some still offering amazingly cheap hotel deals for deluxe accommodation.
Dorset Villa – Just as pretty as the name makes it sound, Dorset Villa is a small, friendly independently-owned hotel located in a Victorian building just a five minute walk from the center of Bath and featuring some of the best hotel deals in town.
At Dorset Villa, five of the six rooms feature an en suite bath with shower and bath tub, (the sixth room has a bathroom down the hall). Every room has TV with cable, tea and coffee making facilities and central heating. A full English breakfast is included in the nightly room rate.
The hotel offers private parking for guests, there’s baggage storage available and, if you’re traveling with children, kids under five years old stay for free.
Dorset Villa standard rooms begin at only £40 a night ($63) a night for single occupancy in low season. An extremely inexpensive rate for a hotel this conveniently located in the center of Bath.
You’ll find Dorset Villa at 31 Crescent Gardens, Bath, England.
Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel – Best Western hotels are often a good bet for a good deal on a hotel room and the Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel in Bath is no exception. Although what makes this Best Western such a good deal is not just the inexpensive price but the absolutely gorgeous 18th century country mansion it’s situated in.
At the Best Western Limpley Stoke, every guest room has en suite bath with designer toiletries, free Wi-Fi, flat screen TV with cable, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottled mineral water.
The hotel has a gorgeous restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with food made from locally sourced food and created by award-winning chefs.
If you enjoy a drink in a traditional British setting too, you don’t get much more traditional than the 16th century coaching inn right at the end of the hotel’s driveway.
Room rates start at $77 ($121) a night. Unbelievably inexpensive for this standard of luxury and this stunning of a property.
The Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel is at Woods Hill, Lower Limpley Stoke, Bath.
Old Mill Hotel and Lodge – Another pretty English property, the Old Mill Hotel and Lodge is situated right on the banks of the Avon River in Bath in a converted flour mill – a lovelier setting would be difficult to find.
At the Old Mill Hotel and Lodge, the 27 guest rooms are stunning with en suite marble bathrooms, hairdryer, satellite TV, a laptop safe, tea and coffee making tray, a balcony or patio with a river or grounds view, and a minibar.
The hotel itself has a riverside restaurant, Under the Bridge, that even features its own waterwheel. Food is prepared from locally sourced produce and served in the stunning dining room overlooking the water. Don’t miss the hotel’s lounge bar too, with its excellent wine and beer selection as well as its light snacks. You’ll love sitting here enjoying a relaxing light lunch while watching the rowers go by on the River Avon.
The Old Mill Hotel and Lodge room rates include a full English or a continental breakfast and start at £70.00 ($110) during the week.
The Old Mill Hotel and Lodge is at Tollbridge Road, Batheaston, Bath.
