There is only one time of the year when it is acceptable (in the States) to throw back shots of tequila while wearing a sombrero. That wonderful day of debauchery is May 5, or as its affectionately known by party-goers and fiesta lovers, Cinco De Mayo. Throughout the Orlando area, local restaurants and bars will be serving up specials on delicious food and libations so you can get your “Cinco” on.
Church Street: In the heart of downtown Orlando sits a three story building that has been delighting lovers of drink specials for many a year. Thursday, May 5, Chillers, Big Belly and Latitudes bring Orlando residents “Drinko De Mayo”– an all night event featuring a complimentary Mexican buffet, $5 Cuervo Shots, $3 Corona Lights and free sombreros for the first 100 guests. The venue will also be offering contests and games all night long for those looking for a little more than a fiesta.

Wall Street Cantina: Always promising to have “The Best Fiesta in Town,” Wall Street will surely outdo themselves this year. Last year the plaza featured a 2 Ton Margarita filled with tequila and ready for every patron to drink out of. While this doesn’t seem sanitary, I am sure they found a way around it, and show party-goers a good time. The entire plaza will be decorated with pinatas and sombreros. Adding to the fun will be a live music, drink specials on Corona and Margaritaville products, a margarita bar, tacos and $1 rides on a mechanical bull. The fiesta starts at 5pm and for those who come between 5pm-7pm, you get in free! After that cover ranges from $5-$10 but everyone’s first Cantina-Rita is FREE!
Wall Street Plaza is located at 19 N. Orange Ave.; 407-420-1515
Howl at the Moon: At their “Howlin’ at the Moon Cinco De Mayo Party,” the folks at Howl will be serving up specials on Corona and 86 ounce Mega Rita buckets, as well as providing their always entertaining live music. Shot girls will also be on hand to help you slam back those tequila shooters all night long. The party starts at 7pm and doesn’t stop til Mega Rita bucket runs dry.

Amigos at Waterford Lakes: The infamous Cinco De Mayo Street Party is back at Amigos this Cinco De Mayo, in Waterford Lakes! $3 Corona/Corona Lights, as well as specials on margaritas, all day long, both inside and out. Ember: The saying, “Its five o’clock somewhere” will come into play this Thursday at Ember as they open their doors at 11am. The fiesta doesn’t stop here until 2 am and will include FREE sombreros, live music, $3 beers and $4 margaritas and Patron shots. While partying for 15 hours isn’t recommended, it is an option at Ember.
