Ben & Jerry’s Bonnaroo Buzz Ice Cream Review

When I was walking down the ice cream aisle, a cosmic force pulled me to the Ben & Jerry’s section. Maybe it was the fact that I had just tried their new chocolate covered potato chip ice cream flavor the prior week, maybe it was the interesting names they give their ice cream flavors.

This time I gave in and bought the Ben & Jerry’s Bonnaroo Buzz ice cream. I had to know the story behind that name. And, how could I pass by an opportunity to try coffee and malt ice cream with whiskey caramel swirls and English toffee pieces?

The nutritional facts for Ben & Jerry’s are always depressing. This one is no different.

A half cup contains 280 calories, 14 grams of fat, 115 mg sodium, no fiber, 25 grams of sugar, 4 grams of protein.

The ingredients are natural and include cream, skim milk, liquid sugar, corn syrup, dried cane syrup, coconut oil, egg yolks, butter, sugar, whiskey, coffee extract, salt, cocoa, guar gum, caramelized sugar syrup, natural flavor, soy lecithin.

The name for this mysterious ice cream comes from the Bonnaroo Music & Art Festival, an annual music festival in the Tennessee countryside. I’ve never been, but the flavor is supposed to capture the taste of “local Coffee Country.”

This ice cream can’t be taste tested in just one or two teaspoons as some. (Not for a fair review). The Bonnaroo Buzz ice cream contains layers of different flavors. Sometimes you get a big chunk of English toffee, and sometimes it’s just a little speck. Sometimes you notice the flavor of whiskey caramel; and other times, it’s the distinct taste of coffee. Other bites reminded me of a chocolate malt ice cream milkshake.

It’s like dying and going to a peaceful place in heaven where your loved ones greet you and then going to an even better, more mysterious place in heaven until finally you meet the Maker who offers you a big hunk of English toffee.

Who’s the real maker behind the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream line? Is it really a person or could they be getting their ideas from the Ice Cream Maker and Creator?

But it can’t be so because the Ben & Jerry’s Bonnaroo Buzz ice cream is purely sinful, downright wrong and perhaps even evil (if you are trying to be healthy).

They have similar flavors such as the Peanut Brittle Ice Cream with Peanut Brittle Pieces and Caramel Swirl and the Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, but this one is on a different level.

Ben & Jerry’s has a lot of great flavors including Dublin Mudslide, Cheesecake Brownie, Boston Cream Pie, Brown Batter, Chocolate Macadamia, Cake Batter, and Cherry Garcia and the classic Chunky Monkey and Chubby Hubby.

For my Ben & Jerry’s Bonnaroo Buzz ice cream review, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
