Battle of the Margarita Mixes: Jose Cuervo vs. Sauza

I do like a good margarita and I have tried many brands of non-alcoholic mixers. Recently, I decided to do a comparison between two of my favorites, Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Margarita Mix and Sauza Premium Margarita Mix. These are both liquid mixers. Let the battle begin. Here is what I discovered!

Sauza Premium Margarita Mix costs around five dollars for a large 1.75 liter plastic bottle. There are around twenty servings in this bottle and that is a decent deal, in my opinion. I had never heard of this brand of mixer, they have tequila, too. I noticed that the shade of this mixer is a pale green. I must admit, the color war between these two mixers is won by Jose. Anyway, the price of both Sauza and Jose are pretty much the same.

When I tasted Sauza Premium Margarita Mix, I liked it. It is very much all about the lime taste, this one. A sharp and tangy strong lime flavor and an interesting blend. I had this mix in a frozen margarita. It was good, but I do think the lime taste is for those who love just lime flavor with their margarita. Period. Fresh lime flavor is the motto of this brand and I agree. They do achieve that. Pale green with zing. I did discover that I need less of Sauza to make a drink than Jose. The bold lime taste covers tequila well.

Here is where it gets interesting. Sauza Premium Margarita Mix has only 50 calories in one serving. Not too bad. Jose has double this. No kidding. Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Margarita Mix is affordable and costs about the same as Sauza. It is known as the original margarita mix. Jose Cuervo also has tequila. Not in this mix. Anyway. I like the color of the Jose mixer best. It is not just green, but greenish with shades of yellow. Very pretty. I do not like the fact that this mixer has 110 calories in each serving. That is probably the only thing that I do not like about it, though.

When I tasted Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Margarita Mix in my frozen margarita, I loved it. It has a rich and bold flavor that does more than just add lime flavor, for sure. It is sweeter than Sauza and of course it tastes better, it has double the calories. Even so, I like the flavor of it best.

So, in the battle of the non-alcoholic margarita mixers, there can be only one winner. I rate Sauza Premium Margarita Mix four stars out of five stars. I rate Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Margarita Mix five stars out of five stars. It is my very favorite margarita mix and I will be buying it again. I do still buy the Sauza brand on occasion, to save calories. But when I want to indulge, I must have Jose. Ole.

The winner is Jose Cuervo Classic Lime Margarita Mix. Hands down. It is high in quality, has the best taste and is affordable. Both of these mixers have their good points, no doubt. For more lime taste, choose Sauza Premium Margarita Mix. For real traditional margarita taste, I choose Jose. I enjoyed comparing the two and for more information about my favorite one, you can visit the josecuervo.com website.
