With the NFL Draft and the 2011 schedule just released, football fans everywhere are dialed in to how the 2011 season is shaping up for their favorite team. Football is a family affair in my house and we are longtime fans of the Arizona Cardinals since moving to Phoenix over 8 years ago With the Cardinals coming off of a 5-11 season, they are facing one of the weakest schedules in the NFL which could only help improve their odds on winning. The Arizona Cardinals first game is at home and all of you Cards fans know that doesn’t happen very often. In fact, this would only be the 3rd time since moving to Arizona in 1988 that the game opener will be home field advantage. Will starting the season at home with a stadium full of fans make a difference for the Cardinals this year?
3 Best Games for Arizona Cardinals 2011
Sunday September 11 @ 1:15 p.m. is the season opener for the Cardinals on home soil. The Cardinals will play the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers had an even worse season than the Cardinals in 2010. The Panthers actually had the worst season in the NFL last year so this game has been labeled as a must win for the Cardinal team by their fans. Not only could this be the first game with a new Cardinals quarterback in play but we will be watching for a win against the Carolina Panthers after suffering a loss of 19-12 in the 2010 season.
Sunday October 23 @ 1:05 p.m. will be intense for the Cardinals. This will be the best non-divisional game of the season. The Cardinals will play against the Steelers at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale. It is sure to bring back memories of a 2009 Superbowl victory that was swept away by the Steelers within the last couple of minutes of the game. Everyone said the Cardinals choked, I prefer to think they scored that last touchdown about 2 minutes too soon. That loss still stings for many Cardinals fans and we will be sitting on the edge of our seats looking for victory over the Steelers.
Sunday, December 4 @ 1:15 p.m. the Cardinals will play the Cowboys. The last two games against the Cowboys been exciting and long. The last two games had time extensions and were tied right down to the last few seconds of the game. The Cardinals were able to pull out a win both times. Both teams played very aggressive when on the field with each other which is what makes this game a must see this year. Will the Cardinals hold onto their winning streak against the Cowboys? Tune in to find out.
3 Worst Games for Arizona Cardinals 2011
Sunday, September 25 @ 1:15 p.m. will have the Cardinals visiting Seattle to take on the Seahawks in their first NFC West game. Last season the Cardinals suffered 2 losses to the Seahawks. I don’t see much changing this year in that aspect which is why it will be one of the worst games for 2011. The game was anti-climactic last season and the fact that the Cardinals had a tough time beating out the Seahawks was painful to watch. The teams do have one thing in common. They are both on the market for a quarterback which seems to be a common theme for the 2011 season. A victory over the Seahawks would be a nice boost for the Cards, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens this year.
Sunday November 13 @1:00 p.m. will have the Cardinals facing the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFC West division of 2010 had a tragic year. There is some history between the Eagles and the Cards. I am not sure if everyone remembers the massive loss on Thanksgiving night in 2008 when the Eagles took a victory by more than 28 points. The final score was 48-20 with the Eagles winning the game. The Cardinals did redeem themselves to beat the Eagles in the NFC title game in Glendale. This game could go either way, however, has never been an exciting one to watch, especially if the Cards lose.
Sunday, December 11 @ 1:15 p.m. will be a showdown between the Cardinals and the 49ers. As divisional rivals and a key game for the season this game will be a must watch for fans of both teams. These teams are bitter rivals and after the Cardinals loss last season of 27-6, the fans are anxiously awaiting a rematch. The Cardinals have lost the last four straight games against the 49ers and the last six out of eight games total. Speculation is that the 49ers will be even better this year with a new head coach on staff.
