Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, a longtime favorite with visitors, is transforming into Dolly Parton’s Pirate Voyage. After a long run, Ms.Parton thought it was time for a change. The new show will feature a 15 foot deep lagoon, where two pirate ships, the Crimson and Sapphire, will battle each other to the delight of the audience. Before the show, singing pirates, jesters and other seafaring characters will entertain their guests. While watching the battle, patrons will be served a delicious feast of chicken, ribs, potatoes, corn and an apple dessert. The 11 million dollar adventure opens in June, 2011. Broadway at the Beach a popular shopping and entertainment complex, has replaced the Crab House restaurant with the 15 million dollar WonderWorks. This unique attraction is built inside an upside down house and boasts over 100 exhibits. Deemed an ” amusement park for the mind,” the WondeWorks will amaze young and old alike. Experience a virtual rollar coaster,a hurricane simulator or feel like you are riding in a submarine. Besides many interactive displays, a full bar, food and plenty of seats will keep everyone happy.

Towering over the former Myrtle Beach Pavillion area, the 12 million,187 foot tall Skywheel will soon be completed. The Skywheel is the largest wheel east of the Mississippi River, giving riders a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. Featuring temperature controlled gondolas, the wheel will operate year long. Each gondola can hold up to six passengers and runs for about ten minutes. Each night, the Skywheel will light up the Myrtle Beach sky with a beautiful display.City planners hope the Skywheel will bring more peolpe to the downtown area.
